The problem I encountered was when transferring an email list over from another provider. Not everyone clicked the link to resubscribe and I lost thousands from their software. I couldn't send them another email from there. I understand the requirement to resubscribe but this was an existing list from another provider. I also lost clients and friends from my list who were confused as to why they no longer received emails. They had to go to my website and sign up again. I couldn't contact others to do the same - because I couldn't email them\!
