I am a new user of touchpoint. My background is working in a higher education database system.

3.0 7 years ago

Comments: Being able to keep up with prospects and members of our church is much easier with this software tool.

Pros:

It is great that the pictures of our church members are available. I like being able to email individuals and groups through Touchpoint. The report feature is nice. Being able to use tags is helpful. It would however, be even more helpful to be able to further filter some of the people I have tagged before I email the whole group. Sometimes, an email should go to most, but not all of the members of a tag. The "Recently Viewed" list is very helpful when searching People or Organizations.

Cons:

I am disappointed that I cannot set up a communication plan for members and guests. The search building feature seems a bit awkward. Is there a chart somewhere that lists all available codes that I may search? I wish there was a separate place where I could view all my templates without having to click on someone's record in order to find all of my saved drafts/templates. Our church does not have a Twilio account, so we are unable to send texts using Touchpoint. It would be great if the capability to send /receive texts was integrated in the software. We also do not use the payment system that can be used with Touchpoint.

TouchPoint is an Organization Tool for the Church, By the Church

5.0 8 years ago

Comments: A couple years ago, our local church was looking for a cost efficient people management software that was easy for volunteers to use, could be accessed anywhere, had a built-in check-in feature, and made managing people and giving simple, but detailed if necessary. TouchPoint filled all of those features well, and their pricing (based off individuals) made it realistic for us financially to use. Ease of Use
After having a realistic price and the features we needed, it was essential that this software was easy to use for volunteers and the pastoral and secretary staff (some who are not high tech savvy). When we purchased the software, the TouchPoint staff (known as BVCMS back in the day) reached out to us immediately to setup training, and showed our staff how to use the software. It only took about an hour to learn the features and start using it well. Even after that, if a question ever came up, all we had to do was email them, and they got back to us within the day.
On the front end, the program is great in how it organizes information. It also has several options for exporting that information as well, which was essential for us in creating directories, email lists, etc. It even comes with a mobile app for check-in and simple search to easily find people's contact information. After learning the front end, there are more options and tools for you to use including an email newsletter designer, ministry organization, options for pastors to keep updates on their visits and meetings with people, targeted communication exports, and mass updates, etc. One feature I would gladly welcome is a simpler person updater using the Search Builder. In TouchPoint, they have a very detailed and powerful search feature. I use this regularly to update information, find specific people in the system, and keep track of new attenders. However, after getting your results, as far as I'm aware, there is no feature to edit person details on the Search page. To make changes, you either need to go to each person individually, or use the Tag feature. The Tag feature is great that it allows you to select all or specific people for later mass updating (which is currently what I do), but it'd be nice to have an option to update information right on the same page. All in all, TouchPoint's features, ease of use, and excellent customer service has allowed this database software to be our one stop location for managing all aspects of our ministry involving people.

Pros:

Ease of use, detailed people management, easy and customizable exports, children's ministry check-in, mobile access, powerful search feature.

Cons:

Only real con is after using the Search Builder, in order to make changes to individual profiles or select groups, it requires using the Tag feature which includes multiple steps. Would welcome as quicker editing feature.

Great, user friendly tool for church management

4.0 7 years ago

Pros:

The software is extremely user friendly and acts as an interface for the entire office even when some staff members are out on visitation, vacation, hospital duty.... It is very helpful in keeping track of accurate demographics and statistics for our church not only on a member informational level, but also in a financial sense as well. The ability to also accept credit/debit card transactions easily through a simple link on our website has increased contributions, tithes, and offerings by quite a bit. TouchPoint also allows our pastors to know who has visited with whom and also for our senior pastor to assign tasks to associate pastors; effectively delegating tasks and visits across the entire pastoral staff. As the financial secretary, I utilize the Touch Point software for keeping up with contribution records as well as yearly capital pledge campaigns. The software has the ability to compile financial data and run easy reports. Over all, I love the "user friendliness" of the software. It seems to be designed along the lines of some popular social media forums and it is extremely easy to navigate. Over all, the software gets an A from Woodlawn Baptist Church.

Cons:

The mobile app that coincides with the software is not as user friendly for either internal staff or members. The app is easy to find and download on any app store; however, once the app is downloaded and log in occurs, it is very limited on the functionality. Our pastors utilize the mobile app to pull up address information for members when they are out on visitation; however, they are not able to input information regarding their visit on the app. It has been mentioned several times that it would make the software/system much more attractive if they were to access and update information within the mobile app instead of waiting until the end of their visit/day when they are sitting back at their desks, in front of a computer to input all of the necessary information that they would like to include about the visitation/events of the day and to pass on that information to the rest of the staff.

Love TouchPoint

5.0 8 years ago

Comments: We researched a lot of options and decided to go with TouchPoint back in the beginning of their product and have never regretted that decision! They uniquely address specifics for our organization and have been great with training and customizing features when needed. Not a year goes by that they have not continued to enhance and develop features that meet the needs of their customers. We've referred TouchPoint to more than one church in the years we've been a customer.

Pros:

User friendly and addresses all the unique needs of a church

Cons:

On a few very rare occassions, it would be nice to have a bit more control over customization of things like ... entry points .... the software comes with some areas pre-populated with items that were unique to the founders denomination (membership trac, etc) that we'd sometimes like to delete as our class track or names of ministries are different. Usually, we can add those ... but can't always delete the pre-populated options

Awesome Church Management Software!

4.0 8 years ago

Comments: TouchPoint is very user friendly! As an Administrative Assistant to several ministries, this software has made my job so much easier. Their customer support is one of the best: their response time is phenomenal. We do 4-6 mission trip registrations through TouchPoint every year, and the ease of managing online payments and donations is superb. It has great people management capabilities and reports are easy to run. The "Help" documentation is a great asset to make this one of the easiest systems to learn. While we are able to use TouchPoint for registrations, donations, and online giving; the software does not include any other financial capabilities (i.e. general ledger). I would highly recommend this software to anyone looking for something that is flexible and effective.

Pros:

Easy to learn Online registrations/donations Customer Service People Management Check-in Features Search Builder (very easy

Cons:

Would like more financial features (general ledger, AP, AR)

Comprehensive and adaptable

4.0 8 years ago

Comments: We have been very pleased with the product. We did a lot of research before purchasing this and through that research TouchPoint stood out among the competitors. One of its big selling points was that We really enjoy the ability to customize and adapt the system to our church's needs. And, if there is a feature we would like to see added, the development team has been great to work with us. (Not to mention we benefit from other church's requesting new features as well. ) Other things we like about it:
1. The child check-in system was one of the selling points for us and it has been very easy to use.
2. Access to the system (limited functionality though) from the mobile app. 3. The ability for our congregants to access and update their personal information. 4. The fact that it's web-based and you can access it from anywhere. 5. The fact that you can have as many users s you like. 6. The cost structure is very reasonable. Things we don't like:
1. Online registration forms are confusing to set up for anyone without some type of computer background.
2. We wish the mobile app had more functionality. Overall we are very pleased with the product.

Great Support and Good Quality

5.0 8 years ago

Comments: I have enjoyed using the software as well as working with the support team at TouchPoint. I am new to the administrative field in church and did not have previous experience working with other church software. It was a challenge initially for me to understand all the benefits to the church and ministry but I love the features and quality of the software. The support team as been exceptional in both timely responses and quality responses also. I found their help documentation to be very helpful and thorough, with reasonable accuracy in the ever changing industry. They did have an intro training which I appreciated. My only suggestion would to be to include a training for younger/smaller churches such as ours that emphasizes the ministry tools and applications that could benefit the client. Though we have been able to figure out much as we have gone along through the support documentation and staff, as well as getting familiar with the software. Again though, as a younger church, the utilization of the software is smaller initially and thus creates a longer learning curve. I have found the software to be of value as well. The cost has increased during our time of business, and I have found other options that are more economical for a younger church, however, the interface leaves something to be desired. Overall, I have enjoyed working with both the software and the staff.

Still Learning

4.0 6 years ago

Comments: On the one hand, it was a vast improvement over Servant Keeper, which was the previous church management software we use. On the other hand, it has a pretty steep learning curve, and it is more expensive than our previous software.

Pros:

I like everything that TouchPoint claims to offer. The idea of a cloud-based church management software system that could be accessed on any computer or smart device is a very convenient reality. For this reason, it was a great improvement to our previous church management software. The fact that they also offer an online giving app is an added bonus. The attendance taking feature is also very convenient. We now have people who take church attendance with their cell phones.

Cons:

It is not at first user-friendly. It is not naturally intuitive, and the amount of time that the company gives in free tutorials is not enough to learn the system. For anything beyond their initial free tutorials, they charge a fairly expensive price for the help you need. We have had the software for almost a year, there are still a number of features that we have not set up.

Super Church Management Software

5.0 8 years ago

Comments: I've been using touchpoint a little over two years after researching many different products. There was one product that did just a few more things I liked but it was over twice as costly. Touchpoint continues to improve and add features all the time. If you have a problem the help staff is quick and efficient in helping you figure out the issue. I am thankful that I heard about touchpoint and made the decision to have them as a partner in ministry.

Pros:

Ease of use and functionality, - great partner in ministry.

Cons:

Would like to have the ability to reserve rooms and have room setup.

Pretty good but could use more updates and streamlining

4.0 5 years ago

Comments: It's been difficult to learn all the ins and outs of the program. It's not self-explanatory and training and classes need to be offered to whoever will be using it.

Pros:

The feature of grouping to help with mass e-mails. Ability to keep track of members and ease of changing/adding/deleting details in individual profiles.

Cons:

Overall, it's not user friendly. There are specific ways of searching and if the rules are not applied then you will not find what you are looking for, even if the data is already in the system. The way in which one needs to get something done is very indirect. The placement of where you have to click to get to where you want is not easy to find and remember. The formatting of e-mails, especially with images, is limited. They need to be customized and the program itself doesn't make self-adjustments for a good end-result.

Hi Kathryn, Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback. We hear you that some things are not intuitive within TouchPoint (making things more user-friendly is on our roadmap!). Hi Melinda, Thanks for leaving your review! We are grateful for your years with us and glad you have had good experience with our tech support. We prefer for users to submit tickets in Zendesk rather than pick up the phone simply because it allows us to better serve you. Average response time for tickets is less than four hours, which is actually the quickest in the industry! That said, we know sometimes you want/need an immediate answer, and having to wait can feel frustrating. We look forward to new developments in 2019 that hopefully will make it easier to seek answers for support questions.

I originally selected the software for children ministry checkin but it is now used for everything!

5.0 7 years ago

Pros:

Open-Source (I have contributed bug fixes and new features that have been implemented). Custom SQL and Python Scripting. Children checkin is easy. VBS Registration and management is super easy. Automation for sending out absentee reports. Integration with text messaging and newsletter emails through Mailchimp. Integration with background check supplier is seamless.

Cons:

Currently the Calendar is a bit clunky but they are working to release new version. I also wish the Mobile app was a bit more cost effective for smaller church plants.

Great system, complicated to operate for beginners

4.0 8 years ago

Comments: The overall experience was good, but the system was just too complicated to get set up for a check in station. Even after it was explained to me it took too much hardware and if one piece did not work then all of the system went down. I think if it was simplified without the ping system then it would be a lot better, either through Bluetooth or even over a closed wifi system.

Pros:

Really easy to work for a non printer check in, really easy to look up people, really easy to create new classes.

Cons:

too much hardware was needed to run check in station

We love how it covers all the aspects of ministry. They are always updating to suggestions and improving on the aspects of the software. The customer service is outstanding. We love how they have partnerships with Mailchimp, online donations, etc.

Cons:

I have not found anything I don't like to be honest. If there is something we wished would be different we ask for advice and they either have another way to do things to they take the suggestion and sometimes make it happen.

TouchPoint - 4/5 stars

4.0 8 years ago

Comments: Overall, TouchPoint is a great church management tool that offers more features than you can possibly use unless you make it a full time job to study their help documentation. We love the way it helps us track and contact our members, register for events, take attendance, etc. Our biggest pain point has been the check-in system for our preschool & children's departments. We have been working with TP to resolve the issues we have had, but the reality is - it does not specialize in check-in, it merely offers check-in as a service. That being said, if you don't use check-in, I would HIGHLY recommend that you use TouchPoint for your church management system.

Pros:

Lots of features for church management

Cons:

Not user friendly; check-in feature seems to be an afterthought

Moving from a legacy church membership platform

5.0 6 years ago

Comments: We believe Touchpoint is the right tool for us to be able to better capture the participation and involvement of our membership. We are also now able to integrate our retreat registration information into our member records which provides a clearer window on how our membership is engaged. The communication tools via email/text will be something that will help leaders connect with and reach out to our various groups. We were looking for a "single source of truth" database solution and Touchpoint appears to have all tools we need to remove the data silos that have developed using excel, gmail or constant contact.

Pros:

We like the user friendly interface, the ability to have a mobile reference for our church leadership to review member information, as well as the extensive support library and responsive help desk for specific situations. We are still exploring all the features and benefits, but I can see many scripts and tools that we can access to provide easy to run reports on things like first time givers, change in giving and other metrics.

Cons:

I don't have any specific negatives to report as a new admin user. All new systems take some time getting used to, so that just comes with the territory of make a system switch.

Touchpoint's features are way ahead of the competition

4.0 8 years ago

Comments: We have been using Touchpoint for 3 years now at our church of about 600+ members.
The feature set and flexibility of what you can do with this software is tremendous. Very advanced reports, the Search Builder, Organizations structure...and if you can't find a way to do it, then it's open source, so submit a pull request and help add the feature yourself!
Support has been very responsive and helpful. Only downside...some parts of the software are overly complicated with the User Interface, so there is a learning curve, especially to some advanced areas. Also, the online giving user experience is less then ideal (although functionality, it does work well. we have been using it for 3 years). If there was something I found that was better, I would switch. But haven't found anything that meets our needs as well as Touchpoint has.

Pros:

Search Builder and Mobile App Attendance

Cons:

User interface for Online giving process

Excellent support!

5.0 8 years ago

Comments: TouchPoint is very intuitive, and the support is very helpful when I have a question. I've accessed the help articles when I cannot figure something out, and they are very thorough in addressing my question. When I need a little additional help, their support staff is very accessible and eager to help in any way possible!!! I would definitely recommend TouchPoint to other users.

Pros:

Easy to use and get support

Cons:

I wish it had a facility management software attached.
