BusinessObject to simplify complex database analysis

Comments: BusinessObject provides great analytical tools for companies to make smarter decisions, it can operate on very large scale databases and it is relatively stable and trouble free. Users can learn it easily and provides many visual tools therefore different and simple to read formats to analyze data and make decisions easier and quicker.

Pros:

BusinessObjects is capable to run and process databases with millions of records, it has very good visual tools that are easy for users to read and analyze making it a tool easy to learn for users. It is flexible to run on any of the popular databases such as MS-SQL or Oracle and it is a stable software requiring little intervention from system administrators, usually once setup it runs trouble free.

Cons:

It is complex to setup and requires more extensive training for the system administrators to operate it in the background. Also it is an expensive software and requires additional licensing from Oracle or any database developer which then adds more high cost to it.

Comments: In general it is a good tool, but it is becoming a bit outdated in the face of new alternatives.

Pros:

It is a tool that can be integreted with other applications, it can also work with a lot of data and build ad hoc reports. Finally, reporting creation from information cubes is friendly when youa are heavy user.

Cons:

Something that needs to be improved is the visualization of the reports, they should migrate to a more user-friendly dashboard. Another issue is that it is a bit complex to understand how it works when you just start using it.

Secure and comprehensive, but needs improvements in UI and functionality

Comments: I have been using SAP BI for almost 2 years now and I am satisfied with how it houses a massive amount of data with security guaranteed. However, it can improve a lot more in terms of scalability, system, and processing.

Pros:

What I like most about SAP BI is that it is able to store a massive amount of data, allows use of several measures/facts and market breaks, and is very secure as I know our data is always safe and protected.

Cons:

What I like least, however, would be that system processing is quite slow (takes a lot of time loading data), user interface is not too friendly/appealing/easy to navigate, and the tool is quite rigid in that it does not allow for much customization

Easy and Convenient

Comments: It's easy and fun to drag and drop columns, but as I mentioned above, the Informatin Design Tool application is a bit slow. I recommend Sap Bo in general.

Pros:

I can easily find the solution in internet. And I can easily drag and drop the columns of the tables I selected in DFX to BLX.

SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence is full of functions and features to control and monitor business, and high ability of customization.

Cons:

We face two concerns about it, the limitation of integrations with non-SAP modules. and its price is expensive.

Best reporting platform for non-power users

Pros:

BusinessObjects offered a wide range of reporting and analytics tools. Non-technical users could simply design a report, schedule it for timely refresh and get it delivered to the end-users in a fully automated way. SQL scripts also available to identify data sources, table connections etc...

Cons:

It takes time to fully discover and understand all the functionalities, but it will pay out on the long run. Data load takes longs when working with large databases.

The perfect B.I. for mid-size companies

Comments: It has been used as main reporting tool of the company: all the teams used to receive the automatic reports in the morning and all teams had the capability to generate on-demand reports.

Pros:

I appreciate above all its flexibility when I need to create ad hoc reports.It's very powerful, even if a bit complicated at the begining, and it really allows business users to drill down into data and get the information they need.

Cons:

It requires an adequate training in order to use it at its best.It's a bit complicated, especially to understand all its functionalities and reporting capabilities.

A great business analytics and reporting tool

Comments: I have personally used this application for more than 10 years and it has been a significant report for our reporting requirements. We generate reports both in pdf and excel, depending on our requirement and the reports do contain the prompts for the checker to verify the reports if needed.

Pros:

SAP BusinessObjects is one of the best reporting tool. The tool can be well integrated with one of your main database (in our case it was Flexcube) to produce a number of reports for your clients and investors. It's very much easy to use and requires little or no training for the users to implement. Probably, one of the best features of this application is it's report scheduler which can schedule your reports as per your prompts and you can easily have them saved in a particular drive of your choice.

Cons:

One of the critical issues that I encountered while using SAP BusinessObjects is it inbox reporting. Most of the reports for a user would be available as Global reports however certain specific customised reports are sent to the inbox of the user where that user can only run the same report and will not be available for other users. While accessing the inbox reports, we often encountered issues where the user was not able to run the report or the report will get deleted automatically after some time or the report output will be very slow.

Although SAP BI is very powerful tool and easy to integrate with the SAP ERP system but have following limitations: - Sometimes real time data synchronization takes time that leads to difference in actual and reporting figures - Training and understanding of SAP BI takes time and efforts

Makes it easy to build complex queries without knowing SQL, I love it!

Comments: I use BusinessObjects every single day, multiple times a day. We are transitioning to start having all reporting come from BO as once the reports are setup and scheduled its "set it and forget it" in many cases. We put a lot of focus on automation and reducing the amount of time spent building custom reports and one-off analyses. So we have built numerous reports to support our sales team, operations teams, vendors, and c-suite that are all easily refreshed and filtered by the users on their own. And our analytics and reporting teams now have time to work on larger scope projects rather than being bogged down by requests.

Pros:

I love most everything about BusinessObjects. It's a great way for our employees to self-service in many cases as previously they had no way to get access to larger data sets unless they put in a request with analytics. But now our Directors have access to data and reports at their fingertips with minimal training (they don't need an in-depth understanding of databases or SQL queries to use the software).

Cons:

A con that is worth mentioning is that exporting large data sets can be a bit slow. But the ease of use and other benefits definitely outweigh that.

Comments: Pros : Complete product from Giant Vendor and has a great Echo system, Good for Complex/Huge Data Analysis models, Mass Publishing is a great advantage with this Product as i don't see this much of handy with any other Front end products, Robust model, With Design Studio and Lumira it has gain more strength in the BI Market, Great product to integrate with any kind business model, Cons:
Increasing number of tools in the suit confusing customers to choose what for what, Bit Expensive compare to other Reporting products, Recovery is not simple as we think in Failure cases, It requires huge amount of Hardware resources to build a medium/Large landscape, not simple as an end user product for all type of Developments...

Great for Data and Reports

Comments: Apart from the Support Service, the Application has been very helpful for our Data Extraction and reports. No problems with the application so far.

Pros:

SAP Business objects is great for storage, creation, and reports sharing. It allows us to use real time business data and prepare reports from real time data for making business major decisions. Reports creation could be difficult for the beginners, since there is a long learning curve to master all it´s functionalities. But once you´re there, you realized how powerful this tool is.

Cons:

SAP support service is not the best in my opinion. Long response times, and sometimes they don´t offer effective solutions to our problems.

Comments: Improved organizational reporting.

Pros:

The interface is very easy to use for all audiences, allowing us to empower basic users to run their own reports. The ability to combine database elements with custom script to customize reports is very useful.

Cons:

Sometimes the report formatting can be finicky. It is very responsive but can overcompensate for small formatting (size, spacing, etc) adjustments.

Nice Way to Interface with Data

SAP Business Objects provides a nice way to interface with data, allowing both power and flexibility through its structure.

Cons:

With each new version there seems to be some flaw that needs to be corrected or feature that should be added and at an enterprise level it becomes difficult to continuously deploy the updates.

Greatest business investment

Comments: I've used multiple sections of SAP and throughly enjoyed how each section works so smoothly with the others. It has the added bonus for companies that are global being able to link all business as well.

Pros:

Once it's been implemented for the entire company it integrates every aspect smoothly. The ability to link every part of the business is invaluable. From HR to logistics to production, managing warehouse inventory cost saving are realized.

Cons:

Implementation can be tricky if the people setting it up dont take the time to learn the business from one end to the other. It takes a team working in unison to develop a fully functional system. I've seem great things from SAP and I've seen a company sinking from a poor implementation.

Comments: The ability to produce needed report for management and divisional groups.

Pros:

The ease of use with universes to hold all of the needed data for reporting purposes. The ability to combine many reports from different universes into one report for easy running and maintenance.

Cons:

The inability to have more than two cross tab columns on one report. The only workaround I could find was concatenating multiple fields so that all information would show up. The timeout of your user id as you work.
