Reviews of Praxis EMR
Best EMR for the money
Comments: I have used numerous EMR system in the past. In the clinic alone, this the third one we used. Praxis cuts back on my documentation time to less than an hour a day which is pretty good considering that I see > 20 patient a day. Technical support is outstanding. Very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable.
Pros:
Functionalities that you can tailor to your needs. Live Technical support in case you need one.
Cons:
The first week of use requires building your knowledge base and can be challenging. However, as created two or three documents, it gets easier every time.
An EMR That Easily Grows & Changes To Suit My Needs
Comments: Praxis has become an essential partner of my practice, not just a software provider. I know many of the employees and I've even been contacted by the [sensitive content hidden] to be sure all was well. My career is over 30 years and I've used probably dozens of EMR programs. I almost universally disliked them all, except Praxis. Praxis is dynamic, flexible, mature, and easily modifiable by end users. It stands far above other EMRs I've used.
Pros:
Two major criteria that led me to select Praxis was the following. 1) I hate to repeat myself. I wanted an EMR that allowed me to develop diagnostic and treatment plans that reflect my style of care without having to repeat large groups of text for each patient with similar problems. And 2) I wanted to be certain that all problems are monitored to resolution. Praxis tracks and monitors problems over time and automates patient communication and recall. A perfect solution, and it keeps getting better.
Cons:
I've not encountered any major problems or concerns. Should I have any problems, customer support is consistent, reliable and quick.
Great EHR!
Pros:
As a Medical billing company, it is great to be able to have my customers referred to a cost effective and easy to use platform for their EHR. The interface works amazing and it helps the providers focus more on the patient.
Cons:
I have othing negative to say. All has been great to work with.
Alternatives Considered:
Int Medicine
Comments: Very good; easy for staff to integrate into their day
Pros:
Ease of use; excellent support; quick learning curve
Cons:
No controlled substance prescribing-yet -will be coming
Alternatives Considered:
Fantastic multi-diciplinary EMR
Comments: I have always felt like the crew at Praxis were working as a team. From the sales team to implementation and support. Issues come up and they get resolved quickly and efficiently.
Pros:
I love that it basically "reads my mind". I don't love to type so the fact that I can use my own words in many different ways and not retype them is gold.
Cons:
Was a pretty straight forward transition.
Alternatives Considered:
Best EMR for physicians
Comments: With praxis I have no complaints it’s just the way medicine has come to at this stage
Pros:
The ease of use, not having to click on each point , I am able to free write notes on specified patient and it will save to that specific patient or also save in general for patients with similar diagnosis The system learns how you write and document
Cons:
I have used praxis for many years, the one minor issue I would say is with the way controlled medication need to be sent to the pharmacy
Praxis is great!!
Comments: My overall experience has been great. I love the fact that as an administrator, I can generate report which can then be used to make decision regarding my nursing staff and so on.
Pros:
I like the general flow of the EMR. It's easy to use. How great it is to generate information which is required at times by our patients. The EMR is fast and takes seconds to boot up when you begin the day. The support staff is also great and very efficient in responding to queries.
Cons:
None that I can think of at this time, which speaks volume since our clinic has been using the EMR since 2016.
Praxis: A unique concept in EHRs
Comments: Praxis has been a dependable EHR. I have been on Praxis for more than 8 years. It has provided a unique experience to customize the patient encounters, instructions, procedure notes, etc. The more you use it, the "smarter" the system becomes because of the information you are able to save into it unique to your individual practice style and desires, even if those change over time. Almost everything about the patient encounters is customizable as you are using it. A fascinating concept.
Pros:
I enjoy the flexibility and adaptability of Praxis. Praxis is very adaptable to the individual user's practice style. It is an enjoyable and logical system to use. The concept is ingenious.
Cons:
I'm only disappointed that I did not hear about Praxis years earlier! That would have saved me a lot of frustration on template based systems I have used.
A breath of fresh air
Comments: An excellent Dr. friendly EMR. As a busy Dr. who works 12 hour days, it is very efficient.
Pros:
I was send private practice and use Praxis. 8 years ago I joined UCI Medical Center and had to use epic. After that I have decided to go back into private practice and use Praxis. Epic is a very large program made to run radiology, lab, universities etc., but it Is not very user-friendly for doctors. It seems like epic was written by attorneys. For example, if I ordered something in epic and wanted to change it, I can just delete the water. I have to use a drop-down list of reasons (such as ordered in error, duplicate order, etc.). That's just one example of the inefficiency in epic. Writing orders for anything in epic takes 3 times as long as Praxis. Praxis is very efficient at charting, ordering medications labs MRIs etc. I do use Praxis in a somewhat template oriented fashion which I prefer. It interface is well with transcription and voice-activated dictation.
Cons:
There is nothing I like the least about Praxis, Especially the current version.
Praxis from a long-term user
Comments: Very good if you like efficiency. It is a good, non-templated program that allows you to continually fine tune your notes.
Pros:
Simple to use. You get faster every day. I have used Praxis since opening my practice as a foot doctor from the time I completed my residency.
Cons:
Good program-they support you. Like everything, there is a learning curve, but once you put just a little time in, you will get faster and faster.
Alternatives Considered:
Non-Template Based EMR that is customizable just for my needs
Comments: I was in a group practice for 5 years until I resigned last September. During the 5 years in my former group, I was burdened by using E-clinical works - a template based EMR that I absolutely loathed. As an epileptologist, many of my cases have complicated neurological histories that do not necessary fit with a template based EMR documatation. In addition, many of my orders are the same for each patient yet, with E clinical works, I would have to click on the same orders over and over again - wasting time that would accrue over the busy day. Some of the layout of my notes was confusing with a lot of extraneous information added to notes automatically - that had no bearing on the patient care. When I started my new practice, I absolutely did not want to have a template-based system. Lo and behold, I came across Praxis. When I did the demo, it was great that Dr. Loh himself (the CEO and a fellow physician) showed me many of the unique features of Praxis. For the most part, I am so impressed by the concept processor in that many of my cases are somewhat similar to each other in terms of the orders. If I see a case, I automatically just click on the assessment that I have set up for other similar cases and boom - my note automatically populates with the wording and phrasology that I would normally use. I just have to modify some of the details and I save a lot of time this way than having to write the same history over and over again - as I did with Eclinical works.
Pros:
- Ease of Use - Customizable - Saves Time I am very happy with the template-free service. The cost is less than other EMRs (though this is not all in one EHR - I use Open Practice Solutions/Open PM as a practice management system that easily integrates with Praxis - still saving compared to Athena or other comprehensive EHR systems). Customer service is second to none especially with the initial "go live" team.
Cons:
nothing so far. I am very happy with Praxis at this time.
Best EMR for customization
Comments: With Praxis we are able to maintain independence and get the data we need to take care of our patients excellently while still providing big data answers to Medicare programs and insurers
Pros:
Having been involved in implementation of 3 separate EMRs, Praxis satisfies all my requirements the best. It allows me to write intelligible notes that specialists and my co-workers can use, while tracking data in the way that suits the practice at the time (which changes frequently based on medical, government, ACO and insurance evolution). Praxis is my tool for tracking information the way I and others need to, while practicing and charting in a way which makes sense to me.
Cons:
I wish the local hospitals were also on Praxis!
Amazing EMR
Comments: Exceptional EMR and is always very easy to navigate
Pros:
It’s very user friendly and support is available at any moment with a live chat
Cons:
There is nothing I can say that I don’t like
Electronic Health Records
Pros:
- User friendly - Easily modified - Fast charting - Adapts to your practice
Cons:
No real cons that I have come across as of the writing of this review.
Praxi EMR experince
Pros:
We started using Praxis in 2005, when it was still quite new because its approach to medical record generation was intelligent, adaptable and grew in sophistication and capability as the underlying database grew.
Cons:
It's a remarkably lightweight and ultimately intuitive software to use. Unlike template systems, the database from which new records are drawn goes to match the clinical problems encountered in the practice exactly and to adapt to changes in practice as they occur.
Alternatives Considered:
Patient record managment
Pros:
Easy to enter patient information. Coordinates with Open PM software that we were already using.
Cons:
Everything has been great! Staff always answers questions in a timely manner. Training sessions are extremely easy to schedule.
Great EMR!
Pros:
Documentation in Praxis becomes more and more efficient as the EHR learns from you.
Cons:
This is overall a great EMR with a very responsive support staff.
I have used Praxis for over 20 years
Comments: Having been one of the earliest users I have seen the product adapt to changes in requirements of the industry without losing its unique functionality.
Pros:
Praxis keeps chart notes as I wrote them, not as cut and paste entries. Each note is different and unique.
Cons:
Ability to communicate with other systems is limited
Great!
Comments: Wonderful, it has helped support our growing clinic.
Pros:
Praxis is intuitive, quick, and reliable.
Cons:
It knows me too well. . . it makes me suspicious. lol
An EMR That Allows Doctors to Practice as Doctors
Comments: There are so many great features about Praxis but one of the best is the ease with which it allows users to qualify for the various Quality Payment Programs. It prompts many of the necessary criteria so they cannot be missed; even if you forget, Praxis remembers. Beyond the satisfaction of creating documentation that reflects my own personal thinking and is not a cookie cutter template that looks like everyone else's template that becomes cumbersome to read because of the redundancy, the support service for Praxis is phenomenal. I get answers to my questions within minutes; there is no staying on hold and being transferred to several people while someone is frantically going through the same manual you already read. Support is available after hours and sometimes I get answers late at night. When I am really stuck I get a call from one of the designers of Praxis. The Praxis executive team's suggestions and insights have been extremely helpful and their personal commitment to this software is second to none. I have used several other software platforms, both in hospitals and in the office and this is definitely the best one out there if you value accurate, original documentation that helps you provide superior care to your patients.
Pros:
Should you trust all of the rave reviews about Praxis? Yes. Why? Because Praxis allows you to be a doctor. With Praxis I get to practice medicine. Praxis was designed by actual physicians. I first learned of Praxis 10 years ago when I was investigating EMR software for a large group of colleagues. My committee and I recommended Praxis, but at that time the price point was high so the group chose another company that promised everything, but delivered nothing. They hated their choice. Several years ago I looked at Praxis again. The cost is now affordable and the company's commitment to maintaining a high quality EMR system that prioritizes superb patient care is still there. Other systems I've used are template driven. Coding and capturing documentation is what drives their software. Essentially they are a billing template in disguise. Praxis comes as close to producing a high quality note in exactly my own words as when I used to chart with pen and paper. It is true that initial documentation is not automatic; for the first few diagnoses I had to invest time to get the details entered. However, once I did that, future cases got faster until Praxis anticipates diagnoses and outlines a treatment plan about as quickly as I can think it. Praxis prompts me about relevant clinical elements which I may not have considered. The focus is on symptoms, impressions, and treatment; not ICD 10 codes, CPT codes, and a format that benefits the biller, not the patient.
Cons:
It would be unrealistic to say there are no cons. However, the benefits of using Praxis every day with my patients far outweigh any drawbacks. The whole concept of EMRs leaves a lot to be desired, but Praxis makes that bitter pill much much easier to swallow.
Excellent EMR
Comments: Great setup team who teaches how to use the product. Great support when you have questions later. Charting MY way not the way some software designer thinks I should. I cannot stress that point. It is s smooth training process and as you are learning the system you are also setting it up for easier charting at the same time.
Pros:
Strong software with a wide range of features for an incredible reasonable price. It grows as you use it so it begins to basically automate your charting more and more as you go. In an office setting it can end up taking care of your charting, prescriptions and patient instructions very quickly and easily. The ability to customize your charting and patient instructions is super valuable. Some other EMRs do not allow that much freedom in the way they work but Praxis lets you do your exams YOUR way. You can organize the notes to the way you are used to charting. Not sure how to do it..no problem, they have the team that will take you through it. Their training team and support are incredible. Tired of trying to manage code for billing? It does it for you. It helps make sure your codes are correct taking a big burden off of you in the charting process.
Cons:
I guess something has to go here to complete the review, so, let me think.....I guess it wasn't free...LOL.
Use Praxis if you would like your Physicians to have the Ability to Perform at Their Highest Ability
Comments: Praxis is most valuable piece of software that I use in the practice of medicine. [SENSITIVE CONTENT] their trainer, is a delight. The company works very hard to please.
Pros:
Praxis is far better than what the company tells you. Praxis is the closest thing to artificial intelligence for a physician that I have every seen. The design of the program is far more powerful than what the company realizes. The design of Praxis allows generalist practice such a family medicine or general internal medicine practice to deal with generality. The design of Praxis allow allows a specialty practice in a highly regulated industry to design and use notes which are powerful, flexible, and consistent. The implementation of the program is done in a socratic method by a personal tutor who addressed my questions for months on end, and who is readily available to answer my questions. Any physician who is logical and motivated can program Praxis. If you have aspirations to have superior medical care, then use Praxis
Cons:
The Praxis corporation is far too modest about the power of product. I do not believe that the company fully realizes how good their product is. I do not believe that company fully realizes how truly exceptional their trainer, [SENSITIVE CONTENT] is. Praxis should be the industry standard by which all other electronic medical records are measured.
Best EMR on the market
Comments: I am no reaching my 17th year using this product. The one thing that tells you a company is solid is that many of the support people I worked with in the beginning are still there. Such longevity builds for excellence not only in design but in software support.
Pros:
Infinite capability to design to my exact needs and specifications in my office. Very robust programming allows me to bring all the patient data needed to my chart note. Well designed tracking system for any type of data I wish to follow.
Cons:
None really. Praxis continues to make their software better each year.
Praxis EMR is THE BEST
Comments: Amazing and absolutely exceptional! I am SO happy that I chose Praxis!
Pros:
Praxis allows me to document each of my clinical notes the way I really want, in my own style and words, fast and efficiently. Praxis enables me to reference and use my old clinical notes efficiently and properly to write new, accurate and individualized notes as I see patients. I actually really enjoy using it, unlike many of the doctors I know who find using their EMRs frustrating and burdensome. The customer service and support that Praxis provides is the absolute BEST I have experienced. From the time I inquired with Praxis, to purchasing the system, and training to use it, the support that different members of the Praxis team has given me and my staff has been consistently prompt, supportive and knowledgeable.
Cons:
Nothing, I just wish that I discovered Praxis sooner than I did.
The Best EMR, hands down
Comments: Hands down the best EMR there is. There is no 2nd place contender. Praxis saves me a ton of time all the time. When I get a scribe, it will make my scribe even faster compared to other EMRs.
Pros:
Praxis is OUTSTANDING EMR that was designed from the ground up by doctors, for doctors (and for other providers in general). I have used Epic, Cerner, CPRS, Athena, and a few others. Praxis is radically different than all of these. The others are more like word processors built for billing. Not Praxis--Praxis approaches notes the way a doctor would, and it's very obvious from the first screens you view. It saves me so much time and I know it will save my future scribes time compared to other EMR. Customer support is excellent and I ALWAYS get a phone call back soon or 1:1 training from Praxis' trainers. Truly a well run company with amazing software.
Cons:
Praxis truly excels in all departments. There are some points that I can think of that can be improved, but the amazing thing is the [SENSITIVE CONTENT] actually talked to me for 2 hours about points of improvement and things that they are working on. Do you know any other [SENSITIVE CONTENT] from Epic, or Cerner, or anywhere else that will personally sit down and talk to you and train you? No, you don't--and you never will. Only Praxis cares about your experience.
