No brainer using Brex being a startup.. I switched from a bank credit card right away

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: It simply works as a business card that doesn't require any individual credit (I still don't understand why other business cards require individual credit... pls don't call it as a "business card", right?!). Also, I don't need to feel getting ripped off using a bank-issued credit card where certain dollar amount has to be frozen (they shouldn't call this as a credit card if they take the collateral cash for us to use the amount.. right?!). And user support and dashboard are as responsive and smooth like any other modern tech software.

Pros:

We don't need to connect any individual credit to use Brex business cards. We are taking already risk doing a startup, and founders should not be forced to expose their credit to just use software payment etc. Also, Brex is really built specifically for startups, so a bunch of the benefits and how the software works simply make sense.

Cons:

I really cannot think of any... I feel right and very comfortable using Brex card. Using Brex is an essential part of running a startup.

Really good

5.0 2 years ago

Pros:

Improve the efficiency of AP and accounting. I really like the infrastructure and dashboard. The support was outstanding

Cons:

The payment option is only available to US companies. I am not sure what else it can be used for. Uploading batches of payments would be great .

Next to impossible to switch users

1.0 2 years ago

Pros:

Nothing - it’s a credit card. Our experience was very poor.

Cons:

Next to impossible to switch accounts after the company was sold. Took 10x more time and effort than it needed to. Some of the worst customer support I’ve ever received.

Brex for Startups

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: As a startup it's hard to have a team of dedicated administrative staff and Brex streamlines a lot of the work for our current members and decreases the amount of time we need to spend on expense reports.

Pros:

The Brex user interface enables me to manage my expenses without any worries. My favourite part about the software is being able to upload receipts using my smartphone.

Cons:

It's hard to say because this software is so unique but one thing I would like is more freedom in the categorization of items.

Superior product

Comments: We use Brex for our main business bank account and it has been an overall positive experience.

Pros:

It was very easy to get started with the app. It was also very convenient and we were able to get an account up and running within 48 hours.

Cons:

I would like it to be easier to manage the corporate treasury. Paying staff in Crypto would also be ver conveinent.

Services cut randomly

1.0 2 years ago

Comments: Brex really does not care about small businesses, I highly suggest people use another online bank like mercury when considering a bank for their start up.

Pros:

Brex was a great platform before they decided to cut all small businesses.

Cons:

Brex gave no warning to our company and cut our ability to deposit into our account, making operations halt immediately while we found another solution.

An advanced system for managing expenses with the smallest details

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Brex artificial intelligence helped us automate expense models, whereby recording expenses in detail and sending them for approval and also archiving them on the cloud is done quickly, and tracking spending at the enterprise level has become easier, as reports include expenses in detail, which enables decision makers to make decisions and also ensuring that spending is done correctly and within specified budgets.

Pros:

Brex is characterized by high efficiency in managing expenses, as it enables us to record the most accurate details about all expenses, regardless of the method of payment, whether it is cash or a credit card. It is easy to use the phone application to register to create a new invoice, and scanning invoices helps in transferring information from them directly to the system, which relieves us from manually entering numbers and other information. Brex enables us to link the credit card easily, and when paying with the card, we can automatically enter the information related to the payment process. I really appreciate Brex because it allows us to track approvals, as well as the notifications we receive when final approval is obtained or when a department needs more details. The records are very accurate and can easily be consulted and searched. The previous operations, also the expense reporting tool is easy to use, and enables us to prepare and send reports without much effort.

Cons:

You can't find anything to dislike about Brex, the user interface is modern, and the mobile app is very nice and easy to adapt to.

Brex is a great value for our company

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: I have daily control of the credit card usage for our team of over 40. I consider this a valuable option versus a line of credit or sweep account. Brex allows a simple cash flow solution. Since our staff is exclusively remote, it also creates efficiency for procurement.

Pros:

I like the expense receipt reminders to the staff. I like the cash rewards we receive to offset our charges. I like the integration with Quickbooks online

Cons:

Sometimes when you online chat with customer service, it can take an extensive amount of time

Brex closing accounts that it deems not big enough

1.0 2 years ago

Comments: We've been using Brex for about a year now and went with them because they advertised being a bank for small business startups. A couple weeks ago they sent us a notification that we need to change routing numbers. So we had to coordinate with our payroll, Expensify, Quickbooks, and numerous customers that pay us via ACH. After doing all that, today they sent us an email that they are closing our account on Aug 15 because we aren't a big enough account for them. We deposit 30-40k every month so even though we're a small business it's not like we are inactive nor have we ever had any overdrafts. So now we are going to have to redo all of that with a new bank. So just know that if you decide to bank with them you should expect at any time they will close your account even if you're in good standing.

Pros:

The free ACH and wire transfers were the main reason but we also liked the partnerships they had

Cons:

They are closing accounts because despite advertising as a bank for small business, they only want customers that are doing millions.

Great business credit card for startups and beyond. Very good expense reporting/tracking and perks.

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: There are teams in law firms focusing to startups, there are investors focusing to startups, there are incubators for startups.. How to get a business credit card as a startup was an unaddressed pain. Brex is a startup and they work with startups; they understand founder and startup needs challenges, expectations. They provided a very good solution. Startups receive and spend billions of dollars every year! Brex is making something needed and missing. Perfect.

Pros:

Brex card provides more or less all of the features of a highly regarded business credit card, but it is a lot better for following reasons. They work with startups and your chance of getting a credit card as a funded startup is higher and a lot easier. Plus, they keep improving, adding new features every few months. Their website and expense tracking/filing is intuitive and easy, they offer multi layers of protection and convenience (online cards etc). For life science companies there are additional discounts they secure from major vendors. Support team is "real time" responsive or quick via email. You do not need to shout to a voice recording 10 times "I want to talk to a representative" or waste hours. My impression over the last one year is highly positive!

Cons:

No cons compared to all other cards I have used from other top providers.

Brex says "thanks for your reviews, now SCREW YOU small business owner!"

1.0 2 years ago

Comments: Ahh, Brex loves to promote their Capterra and other reviews after soliciting these from small business. But now that they've got their reviews, it's time to burn the small business owner. Out of the blue, we get a message saying, "Brex is constantly evolving our business, and after changes to our strategy, we are less suited to meet the needs of smaller customers." So too bad, my account is closing August 15th whether I like it or not. "This decision cannot be either changed or delayed. Your account will be closed by August 15." Maybe Brex doesn't realize that small businesses become big business, and we're going to be sure to BOYCOTT any big business that uses Brex or ANY bank associated with Brex for the pain and needless aggravation this bank has put us through.

Pros:

I like the platform while it worked. Unfortunately they are no longer supporting small business.

Cons:

The fact that they're closing accounts of small business owners.

They promise the fix to all expense and credit card issues but deliver headache after headache.

1.0 2 years ago

Comments: Absolutely horrible. I have had way to many interactions with their customer service for basic things that a financial services company should be able to handle. Then they unceremoniously dropped all of their small businesses. Garbage company, garbage leadership, garbage product.

Pros:

Easily got the credit card. The travel bank integration was nice for travel related rewards

Cons:

They only are helpful if you are flush with VC money or funding otherwise they will dump you on the side of the road and never look back. Quite contrary to the the story they tell you when they want you to sign up

Best card for startups there is

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: A combination of business travel and office expenses. We had previously been using a major issuer corporate card and had to do a lot of manual reconciliation of statements every month. Everything is easier now.

Pros:

It is easy to tell that a lot of thought has gone into the pain points experienced by small business and startups in managing expenses. Everything happens more seamlessly with Brex compared to our prior card. Expense management is a breeze.

Cons:

In order to receive some of the more major rewards points, you are basically required to only use Brex for your business expenses. This can be a hassle since there may be a lot of automated billing that needs to be transferred.

The best credit card for startups!

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: Brex has been an amazing company for our corporate credit cards. Their software is intuitive, customer service outstanding and rewards program is amazing. I cannot say enough good things about them. I had a new team member come on board and was going to travel with us and I was able to get them a virtual credit card instantly to book their airline and hotel and then Brex overnighted their physical credit card. I was blown away that they already had their card on our trip. Get your own Brex card by going here: https://baseconnect.com/brex

Pros:

- I got a personal rep to talk to on the phone - Their software is very intuitive to use as well as their new mobile app - You get a virtual card as well as physical. - When you add a new employee card they overnight it to them! - You get huge rewards for every dollar you spend. Get your Brex card here: https://baseconnect.com/brex

Cons:

- They don't work with ApplePay yet on the iPhone

Credit Cards for the modern day

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: Brex has been a home run since Day 1. Their UI resolves virtually every pain point & limitations that other traditional credit card providers have

Pros:

Card Management - seamlessly add/remove users and increase/decrease/suspend credit limit in an instant. Exemplary customer support that is responsive and quick to resolution

Cons:

Expenses, BREX-it! (NOT Brexit)

5.0 5 years ago

Pros:

I really like the receipt match capability. This function allows me to complete the expense reporting very easy. I also like the availability of the virtual card and the physical card.

Cons:

Great tool for expense management, receipt tracking and no personal guarantee!

5.0 6 years ago

Pros:

With Brex we're able to spend much less time on expense mgmt. and more time focusing on our core business. Features like seamless receipt capture and spend by employee make tracking purchases very easy. Also it's easy to onboard new employees to our platform. Finally it's great not to have to put up a personal guarantee as a startup. The recent upgrade to the rewards program was needed and really attractive.

Cons:

I'd love to see more analytics like category spend by employee and by vendor, which I expect to come as the company scales.
