### "It just makes sense." — 5.0/5

> **Sam** | *13 February 2026* | Food Production | Recommendation rating: 10.0/10
>
> **Pros**: I like that is just makes sense. I use it everyday in work and have not found it's apple alternative ' numbers' anywhere near as user friendly. It is part of the Microsoft 365 package and due to that is inexpensive. Although I have used a m0bile version and had no issue with it, I tend to use it on the computer due to the larger screen size. There has never been any issue a short youtube video has not helped me overcome. As I mentioned, it just makes sense.
>
> **Cons**: Having had to use the alternative (numbers) for a time I honestly cannot quibble. I would say the one minor gripe is that if I have an excel doc open and open another it sometimes replaces my already opened doc instead of opening two? I have figured out the way around this and it may be a limitation of the hardware I use as opposed to Excel itself.
>
> Having used it for equations, tables, databases etc I would struggle to use an alternative. I can think of three completely separate things that I use this program for everyday. I do not believe I could do that with another program.

### "Microsoft Excel – Where One Wrong Formula Ruins Your Whole Day" — 5.0/5

> **Leo** | *16 March 2026* | Marketing & Advertising | Recommendation rating: 8.0/10
>
> **Pros**: What I like most about Microsoft Excel is how versatile it is. It can handle very simple tasks, like organising lists or tracking expenses, but it’s also powerful enough for complex analysis using formulas, pivot tables and charts. I also appreciate how it helps turn raw data into something clear and meaningful, which makes it easier to spot trends and make decisions. Overall, it’s a practical tool that saves time and improves accuracy when working with data.
>
> **Cons**: What I like least about Microsoft Excel is that complex spreadsheets can quickly become difficult to manage and understand, especially when they contain many formulas, links, or multiple sheets. If they are not organised well, it can be easy to make mistakes or lose track of how certain results were calculated. It can also be frustrating when small errors in formulas affect large amounts of data without being immediately obvious.
>
> Overall, my experience with Microsoft Excel has been very positive. I find it to be a reliable and practical tool for organising information, analysing data and presenting results clearly. Over time, I’ve become more comfortable using different features such as formulas, charts and data organisation tools, which has made working with data much more efficient. While there can sometimes be challenges with complex spreadsheets, overall Excel is a very useful application that helps improve productivity and accuracy.

### "The Everyday Professional" — 4.0/5

> **Verified Reviewer** | *23 April 2026* | Financial Services | Recommendation rating: 8.0/10
>
> **Pros**: Features like Power Query, and PivotTables, and the integration of Copilot has also made writing complex nested formulas a thing of the past.
>
> **Cons**: The learning curve for anything beyond basic sums is steep. The error messages (like \#REF\! or \#VALUE\!) can be cryptic for casual users, making troubleshooting a headache without a search engine's help
>
> Excel remains my primary tool for financial modeling and reporting. I keep learning daily (you never finish learning it).

### "Still the Undisputed King of Spreadsheets" — 5.0/5

> **Syed Hamza** | *1 August 2026* | Accounting | Recommendation rating: 10.0/10
>
> **Pros**: Excel remains the gold standard for spreadsheet software. The sheer depth of functions and formulas — from basic SUM/VLOOKUP to advanced XLOOKUP, Power Query, and Power Pivot — makes it capable of handling everything from simple budgets to complex financial models. Templates are plentiful and easy to customize, which speeds up getting started on new projects. Navigation is intuitive once you're familiar with ribbons and shortcuts, and keyboard shortcuts make power-user workflows very fast. Integration with the rest of the Microsoft 365 suite (especially Power BI and Teams) is a big plus, and value for money is strong if you're already on a Microsoft 365 subscription since Excel comes bundled in.
>
> **Cons**: Performance can lag with very large datasets or heavily formula-laden sheets, sometimes causing freezing or slow recalculation. Mobile device compatibility is decent but noticeably limited compared to the desktop version — complex formulas and pivot tables are clunky to edit on a phone or tablet. Occasional bugs surface after updates, particularly with add-ins or macros breaking unexpectedly. Customer support can be slow for non-enterprise plans, and the learning curve for advanced features (VBA, Power Query) is steep for casual users.
>
> Overall, Excel has been an essential tool for daily work — reliable, powerful, and endlessly flexible for data analysis, reporting, and modeling. Ease of use is excellent for basic tasks and scales well for advanced users willing to invest time in learning. While mobile compatibility and occasional performance hiccups with large files are minor frustrations, the sheer versatility and deep template library make it indispensable. It integrates seamlessly into most workflows and remains hard to replace.

### "A Dependable Tool for Work and Personal Use" — 5.0/5

> **Syeda** | *1 August 2026* | Accounting | Recommendation rating: 4.0/10
>
> **Pros**: I've been using Microsoft Excel for quite a while, and it's one of those programs I keep coming back to. It makes it easy to organise data, track expenses, and create reports without much hassle. I like that there are ready-made templates when I don't want to start from scratch, and the layout feels familiar once you've used it a few times. It also works well on my laptop and phone, which is handy when I need to check something quickly. Whenever I've been stuck, I've usually found answers through Microsoft's help pages or online community. Overall, it's been a dependable tool for both work and personal use.
>
> **Cons**: Although Excel is a great tool overall, it does have a few downsides. Some features can be difficult to find, especially after updates change the layout, so navigation isn't always straightforward. I've also experienced the occasional bug, such as slow performance or a file freezing when working with large spreadsheets, which can be frustrating. The mobile version is useful for quick edits but feels limited compared to the desktop app. In terms of value for money, the Microsoft 365 subscription can feel expensive if you only use Excel occasionally. It takes time to learn the more advanced features as well.
