Do not buy if you’re in Australia

1.0 12 months ago

Comments: Do not get this if you’re in Australia. Buy square instead. I purchased 5.5 weeks before my market event for Christmas, where I had purchased a lot of stock to sell. The device came quickly, I’ll give them that. I set it up, loaded all my products on the back end and did the verification process. The reader sat there for the rest of the time until two days before my event, I turned it on just to make sure it was working. Everything seemed fine but something in the app said I needed to verify myself, which I had already done (sent my drivers license etc), so I did it again and it said it should only take a few hours to verify, which was fine because I still had two days until the event. The day before it was still not verified but in the app it tells you that it’s connected and working, so I assumed it would be ok after going through the verification process twice already! There’s also no number to call, so you don’t have a lot of options or support on a weekend. I got to the event and the reader declined ALL payments because of a security issue. I lost thousands of dollars in sales because nobody caries cash anymore. I sent a support ticket with all of this info and I get a response THREE days later saying that my account is now verified and I can start taking transactions. Bit late and I can’t get rid of this Christmas stock now until Christmas 2024. 6 months of planning down the drain because I decided to give SumUp a go, when I should have just gone with Square.

Pros:

It’s relatively low cost upfront and cheaper transaction fees but I never got to use it!

Cons:

Customer service is non existent. You have to verify yourself multiple times and then it’s likely it won’t accept payments on the day you need it most

The word Excellent sums it up

5.0 3 months ago

Pros:

This software is awesome. My customers love being able to tap their cards in order to make payments. The tap and go feature is extremely convenient when I am at craft fairs or outdoor vending events. No more keeping money in a pouch.

Cons:

Sometimes the payments go through an additional layer of verification, which is understandable but can sometimes be a strain on a small business.

Good value and a no-brainer for offline trading

5.0 last year

Pros:

The physical SumUp is sleek and looks good on display. I also like that there is no recurring subscription / service fee - you pay upfront for the card reader, and they deduct a reasonable fee from any transactions that are processed through their platform. Inexpensive and good value for even small traders. The battery also lasts a very long time on a charge and doesn't deplete even when left for longer periods.

Cons:

The card reader will sometimes connect to other SumUps in the area. Not a huge problem since it will ask you to confirm whether the ID number is correct before you proceed, just a bit annoying when you have customers waiting.

Find a different POS system

1.0 last year

Comments: Bought one of these devices. When it arrived I got a message saying they needed to verify my identity. So I sent copies of licence and.....nothing. Zip. Nada. Wrote to "customer service" and got back ... nothing, zip, nada. Don't waste your money on this

Pros:

The device looks ok. Not heavy enough to be a paper weight though.

Cons:

Zero customer support. Ignored all communication from me.

FiveStars Review

4.0 2 years ago

Comments: Overall, I think that FiveStars is a solid digital marketing solution for small businesses looking to improve their customer experience and loyalty program. However, it's important to consider the high cost and the fact that FiveStars' loyalty program is better suited for retail businesses with frequent customers.

Pros:

I found FiveStars to be very user-friendly for both customers and employees. Customers could easily sign up for the loyalty program through the mobile app or physical loyalty card, and employees could easily scan barcodes to record purchases and loyalty points. FiveStars' digital marketing tools were also very helpful for sending personalized offers and promotions to customers, which helped to improve the overall customer experience.

Cons:

There is also a negative aspect to consider. I found that the cost of FiveStars was quite high for a small business like mine, especially when you take into account monthly fees, transaction fees, and additional costs for offers and promotions. Additionally, I think that FiveStars' loyalty program is better suited for retail businesses with frequent customers, rather than businesses with less frequent customers.

Lies and then more lies

3.0 6 years ago

Comments: Horrible
Their rep made promises and now that he is gone they will not honor anything or even acknowledge my issues

Pros:

It is super easy to use, anyone can figure out how to use it from the front or back end

Cons:

The representative who signed us up told us it was a year contract. At the end of that year we could cancel, he promised there would be no new charges after the prepaid year. He no longer works for them. Shortly before payroll was due Fivestars pulled $2400 from our account. We had no warning. I called them, they set up a phone appointment. They never showed for two of those phone appointments. I finally spoke with Silvana who told me they would refund the $2400 if and only if I signed a new contract promising to pay them monthly for the next year We did not want to continue the service, but if i didn't sign that, they would not give me the $2400 back. Even after I signed it, it took them over a week to give the money back. It has been 10 months and we received an email stating that we needed to let the know if we don't want to renew next year. We never received that email the first year, but all the same I clicked on the link to let them know there was no way we were renewing. Guess what? They set up a phone interview, you can't cancel on their website. I got the call from them today and I was able to terminate the contract for two months from now, when the 12 month contract i signed under duress expires. But then, she told me we have to mail back the two tablets. I was quite sure we paid for those becuase that's what their rep who signed us up told me. So now we were told we paid for those up front, but we have to send them back, we even have to pay for t

Awesome program, insanely loyal.

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: - Actually helped me so much and it's really easy to use and setup.- Helped me manage the insane amount of logins and passwords.

Pros:

This is a fantastic way to accumulate and keep points at nearby stores. Nowadays, having to register for everything and remember 100 different logins and passwords is extremely frustrating. Additionally, carrying around punchcards for loyalty schemes is very inconvenient. All of that is contained in this simple small software. I appreciate how it also brings back memories of places I had forgotten. I deem it to be great!

Cons:

Literally nothing to say, everything was great so far.

Good system for writing invoices and basic income/expense tracking

4.0 5 years ago

Comments: As stated above, overall I'm happy with Debitoor - what it actually does it does fairly well. But I don't like the fact that they try to advertise themselves as this all-in-one invoicing and accounting solution when the feature set is still very limited. For example, you can't even create or upload your own invoice templates (something many similar services allow) - you have to set up your invoice template using Debitoor's limited options.

Pros:

I like the fact that it's easy to create invoices and you can track whether the recipient has received them. You can also link your bank accounts and categorize and track income and expenses (i.e. whether an invoice has been paid, etc.) For these purposes, Debitoor works really well.

Cons:

Despite Debitoor's claims, I wouldn't use the system for preparing and filing taxes or working with a tax advisor unless your underlying situation is very simple. As soon as things get even slightly more complex, you find that Debitoor simply doesn't support a number of different scenarios. My tax advisor has also said that the reports/export files that they receive are more or less unusable and do not conform to standard German accounting practice.

I love the SUMUP application, I use it for online sales without the machine

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Only compliments, great experience with many sales and profits.

Pros:

The best things about SUMUP are the low interest rates, the buyer installment options, the option to split the fees between seller and buyer and the ease of use of the application

Cons:

I have no complaints about this application, it was indicated by a friend and I have been using it for more than two years
