Essentially we leave the application open, and then we insert the card, and hit a great big, green "Scan" button, and then it scans one side, and prompts us if we want to scan the other, then it saves it. But, it doesn't just save it where it wants to, we have a network shared drive where we drop our scans, so our insurance department in a different part of the building gets the scan, and opens the PDF (it can also be JPEG, or another format if you like), and can verify insurance within 10-15 minutes typically. This is far different from scanning it on a photocopier, which can be a pain. Additionally, there are different scan settings within the application that will stay the same when you close the application, or restart the computer. This program is fool-proof\! I love my staff, but sometimes they can struggle with software changes. This worked from day one. No training other than "Push the green button"..."Push the green button again"...click "done". That was the training. Setup was a breeze, and it takes up very little RAM or CPU, so it is not resource intensive to leave running in the background. The best part is that it came bundled for FREE with our purchase of the scanner. Win-win-win all around. > > **Cons**: There is not one thing that I dislike about this software. Installation was difficult, but I just chose to not run the "Autoplay" and opened the executable file. Since our software came with a scanner, the problem was that it was trying to install the drivers for the scanner along with the software, and was an issue. It works best when working on small projects. > > This is the software that came bundled with our Ambir scanners. The software is a fine basic implementation of scanning software, with nothing too special to write home about. That being said, Ambir scanners are some of the best we have used for duplex scanning of items like ID's and insurance cards. Because the scanners are TWAIN complaint, they can work with almost any software package.
