Positive, easy to use, not regular or over the top emails, and around one email a year I think, reminding me of my subscription. They also send emails approaching competition deadlines and results. So this is great.
Pros:
I've used Submittable for over 5 years, entering various competitions and creating philosophical and healing poetry. Also, writing short stories (entered into competitions).
Cons:
Nothing, in all honesty... I found it very simple and easy to use. Sign up was effortless, and seemed secure.

Overall, our experience with Submittable has been extremely positive. The platform has strengthened every stage of our grantmaking process, from launching opportunities to reviewing, scoring, and reporting. Applicants consistently praise how easy it is to submit materials, and our review committees frequently tell us it is the best scoring interface they’ve used. Internally, we appreciate how quickly we can build new projects and how reliable the system is day-to-day. When issues arise, Submittable’s customer support team is outstanding—responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping us succeed. Submittable has become an essential part of our workflow and continues to improve over time.
Pros:
Submittable has proven to be an exceptionally user-friendly platform for both our artists and grant applicants, who consistently report that the submission process is clear, intuitive, and stress-free. Our independent review committees appreciate having streamlined access to their assigned applications and find the scoring interface especially helpful, since they can view the full application and rubric side-by-side. The platform makes it significantly easier and faster for our team to create new projects, track submissions, and manage workflows. Customer service is excellent—responsive, supportive, and solutions-oriented. Submittable also provides improved data access and reporting tools that help us evaluate impact and make stronger decisions.
Cons:
Reporting tools, although much better than before, can still feel limited when attempting highly detailed or multi-layered data pulls. Occasionally, updates introduce small changes that require adjustment for staff. Additionally, affordability can be a challenge for small nonprofits like ours; although the platform is highly effective, the cost can feel difficult to sustain within a modest operating budget.

Working with WizeHive has been a quality experience that has made grant and program management much easier for our team. We are thrilled to be working together over the next few years on our current program and look forward to looking for other efforts we could incorporate WizeHive into in the future. Administrators, applicants, and reviewers all report positive experiences with using WizeHive.
Pros:
WizeHive has proven to be a wonderful solution for our program. We are currently running a large multi-year grant funding competition and needed a system that could meet our needs for proposal collection, application review, reporting, and other elements of grant management. WizeHive has been a perfect fit. The training experience with [sensitive content hidden] was excellent. [sensitive content hidden] always answered questions thoroughly and quickly solved problems as we worked together to create our first fully-functioning application portal. During our application acceptance period, no applicants reported having any issues with the WizeHive system. Everything worked so smoothly! Reviewers have also had a smooth experience while reviewing applications. The support staff is also quick to response with helpful resources.
Cons:
It would be nice if we could have the capacity to allow multiple files to be uploaded in one question in an application where relevant.

Overall, I'm delighted with WizeHive and would highly recommend the NextZen platform to anyone seeking a reliable, user-friendly, and comprehensive grant management solution. By investing in this technology, we will elevate the experience for all stakeholders within our organization and ensure that our processes and tools reflect our grantee partnership objectives.
Pros:
What I appreciate most was the intuitive dashboard menu, which will allow our organization to effortlessly track and manage our grants. The interface for admin staff, external reviewer, and grantees is easy to navigate. The robust reporting features offer valuable insights, enabling us to make data-driven decisions and optimize our grant management process. The customizable workflows have allowed us to tailor the system to our unique needs, which we believe will result in enhanced efficiency.
Additionally, I am impressed by the exceptional customer support provided by the WizeHive team, who are always responsive and helpful as I've needed assistance during the onboarding process.
Cons:
While I'm extremely pleased with our WizeHive subscription, we encountered some drawbacks during the onboarding process. Specifically, I discovered a few features mentioned in our initial sales call were not part of our subscription package and would require an additional fee, which was prohibitively expensive for our small organization. Also, some key functionalities that tipped the scales for us in favor of WizeHive over other grant management systems are not yet available but are expected to be added in future updates.
Reasons for Choosing Submittable:
Our grantees often struggled to navigate the platform, leading to a surge in technical support requests related to applications, grant agreements, and final reports which placed an additional burden on administrative staff. Our external reviewers occasionally faced difficulty using their designated portal, further highlighting the need for additional support resources. The system was prone to errors and lacked follow-through on promised updates that were announced during town hall meetings.
Reasons for Switching to Submittable:
When selecting a new grant management system, alignment with our established organization goals was paramount. Given our average grantee is 70+ years old, we prioritized diversity, equity, and inclusion to ensure the readability for those with vision impairments. DEI within the platform is crucial as we expand our grantmaking outreach to include Spanish and Vietnamese speaking applicants, who could apply in their native language, with seamless review capabilities for English-speaking reviewers.
Furthermore, we needed to streamline administrative workflows to maintain our output with a lean staff. And perhaps most importantly, we sought a partnership with a company that shares our philanthropic values, ensuring a united vision for our grantmaking efforts.

Pros:
So far, our Implementation Manager has helped us solve all of the problem we have encountered and has taken our feedback seriously and passed it to the Dev team. Everyone is responsive and understanding and we feel like they really tried their best to make the product what we needed it to be to fit our program!
Cons:
There is a lot of room for improvements and development, so we look forward to seeing that progress as we start our journey with WizeHive!
