Toast POS
What is Toast POS?
Toast is a restaurant point of sale and management system that helps restaurants improve operations, increase sales and create a better guest experience. Toast customers can easily fulfill orders, update online and in-house menus, and manage staff payroll. With online ordering, advanced real-time reporting and loyalty programs built in, Toast eliminates the need to juggle multiple vendors and dramatically cuts costs.
Who Uses Toast POS?
Toast is designed exclusively for foodservice. While other POS systems are split up between industries, Toast has always been focused on addressing the specific challenges of foodservice providers.

Reviews of Toast POS
The system is great! The customer support is not.
Comments: The product is solid. If you are looking for a highly customizable system, Toast is perfect for you. I would recommend that if you make the change to Toast, have a personal resource that is good with technology so you can avoid customer service calls. Some of their add-ons are not worth the trouble, but the core POS system is top-notch!
Pros:
As far as POS systems go, Toast is very user-friendly and highly customizable to your restaurant, bar, or venue. It is easy to set up and when changes need to be made, they are easy to do.
Cons:
If you need customer support to resolve an issue, help with a feature you may be unfamiliar with or network support, Toast is very weak in this area. The customer service reps have minimal knowledge and are running off a script with no actual knowledge of the product. In the event they need to "escalate" your issue, the call is over at that point. The ability to speak with someone with the knowledge to help you with your issue promptly is practically non-existent. DO NOT use Toast Payroll services. They greatly messed up on tax reporting and nearly caused a significant increase in our IRS fees due to their incompetence.

Hi there, thank you for sharing your feedback using Toast. We understand customer support is important and will continue to make strides to improve your experience as a customer. -

Over all a good decision
Comments: We are happy, server dig it and we are looking at otherways to see it. SOme of the features like event management or online ordering are too pricey for a small store.
Pros:
Working with toast on the set up was great and easy. As we have grown their support has been solid. Not like other POS we have used in the past.
Cons:
Reporting is eh and needs work...mostly data is there, just not obvious how to get what you need and they have to data dump and email it. Also, menus for serving customers can get a little much drilling sometimes 2-3 levels deep to do an 8 oz brown ale.

Hi Rob, thanks for sharing your experience using Toast.
Beware of toast pos
Pros:
It was supposed ti be easy. It is not for a small business. Be ready to be a full tech ex0ert with zero help.
Cons:
I gave a rep a low review. They took me off my account and I could not access my own business for more than 20 hours. I was on the phone for 34 minutes and not one person could figure out how to reinstate my account. But you better know they still charged my account even though I had zero access. This was live during my business hours. Toast admitted it was their own employee who did this. I'm going to keep posting this for every small business owner to see. We cannot allow these tech companies this power.

Very Robust and Versatile POS w/ minor hiccups and One NO NO Add-On Feature
Comments: I'm now pretty savvy w/ Toast POS after 6 mo of use.
Pros:
Robust and Versatile POS for full service restaurant. Perfect for full service restaurant. it does have some minor hiccups. Probably the best POS on the market. Integrates well w/ Open Table. Good support w/ little wait time most time.
Cons:
Toast offers many useful integration except One major NO NO Add-on is Toast Payroll - it's a disaster. totally user unfriendly. clumsy, many non-sense system questions that cause confusion, lack of even the simplest and most basic yet required reporting. Even it's nice to have the time cards get carried over automatically, you would be better off using 3rd party time management and payroll app.

A Restaurant MUST!
Pros:
How easy it is to set up and categorize. Also see sales report and track inventory.
Cons:
When it freezes, glitches, or has an issue processing payments.

Have Some Toast With Your Brunch. Or Lunch.
Comments: With over fifteen years of customer service experience covering all types of industries imaginable, the Toast POS software stands out when regraded by it's ease of integration, system set-up and navigation, customization and guest interaction interface. High marks all around and a resounding cheers to Toast's user friendly design.
Pros:
Simple and easy to integrate into my workplace's numerous departments, Toast POS offers a user friendly platform to build an inventory into with the option to edit the information therein whenever required, even in real time when alterations are needed to complete a guest's order. Toast POS has a sharp and clean visual design that utilizes an equally well developed workplace layout sure to please no matter what industry you're part of.
Cons:
A small setback I've noticed is the required input of a guest's name or information to initiate the 'tap to pay' option. There is a button to 'skip' this input, however if guest recall is pertinent to completing an order then the name or number attached to the order is required. I would like to see the guest's digital pay pad screen offer the ability to input a name or number if only to make interactions conclude in a quicker, more proficient manner.

Toast POS has been a nightmare
Comments: I was excited, but knew i made a huge mistake the day we went live, they ran out the door as soon as we were hooked up with zero training, and it only got worse which is why i'm here.I have a 39 Year old restaurant with a pretty large menu, it wasn't easy to make the switch, but i did, and regret it.
Pros:
The handheld device is nice, but i only ordered one, when i tried to send a second one back they told me to keep it, but still charged me for 2 ($100.00) month.
Cons:
I was mislead by their sales team, it never felt right but i was sold on the 3rd party integration, once i found out they don't integrate, it took a month to find out the truth, but was still billed for things i didn't receive or use, even things like Caller ID (common 101 stuff with so called older POS companies) i understand they discontinued, but they still charged me for it, and refused to refund without a fight.Bottom line, this has been the single worst decision iv'e made as a small business owner, and it's not over yet, i'm still fighting to learn new system, a system i wish i never moved forward with. do your research, it's not always greener on the other side.If you're a huge company with multiple locations then Toast might work for you, you would also need to have a very small menu with very few modifiers for it to work and be worth it, but honestly after the huge expense monthly plus CC processing is it really worth it?

Toast for High-End Restaurant that is part of a Hotel/Banquet/Spa Resport
Comments: Positive, for both POS and Payroll. While we have had a few hiccups, I have been impressed with Customer Service and Tech Support in most instances
Pros:
Self-Install was a little bit complicated but Toast Support was very helpful. The interface is very intuitive and overall simple to follow and teach. Some financial reports don;t show exactly what we'd like, but Toast Support is helping us create custom reports for everything we need.
Cons:
Setting up the menu and revenue centers, especially chaging the revenue centers has been less simple than I'd like.

Comments: Really like toast. However, as we grow the cost is getting quite high to test and implement new functions. Almost to the point where I am considering having a program written specifically for our business. Still, toast is great.
Pros:
Customer Service is excellent. Easy to teach and easy to learn. Intutitve
Cons:
With costs of integrations and addons feels like we are getting nickled and dimed.

No Customer Service
Comments: I understand nothing is perfect however when you combine it with a lack of customer service this drastically decreases the value of the product.
Pros:
Easy setup, very intuitive, easy to train employees
Cons:
The customer service is very poor. They don’t even pretend to care. If able I would post the corespondents I have had with the company. Extremely poor however they are quick to bill or sell you an add on.

Toast is essential for Restaurants
Comments: Great POS system for our restaurant, staff loves it and so does management.
Pros:
The best thing about Toast is the ease of use. Menu screens are easy to read and navigate and quickly enter orders. Back end is easy to manage.
Cons:
The customer service when you call in for issues is not great. I had 2 credit card readers down and it took over 2 hours and 2 phone calls to convince support that they were indeed bad. Lots of testing when finally I demanded replacement readers for mine which were still under warranty and they finally gave in. Too much time for that small issue.

Toast is a Fantastic Product for F&B
Pros:
Toast is incredibly easy to use for the front of house, back of house, and the back office. The ease of reporting makes my life so much easier. Utilizing the handheld system helps my staff turn tables faster and make less mistakes.
Cons:
We have a hard time integrating with InforHMS and sometimes the integration with Resy malfunctions. The system upgrades and there is no warning, which can be difficult to navigate at first.

My Experience With Toast POS
Comments: Very good! In all my years that I worked as a server, Toast POS was by far my favorite POS system.
Pros:
I loved how easy the POS system was to operate and all the additional features Toast has compared to other POS systems. Also, the handheld tablets make service 100% more efficient.
Cons:
One big complaint I can remember is that when customers would use gift cards, and the gift card wouldn't fully cover the balance, the tip percentage would only reflect the balance that was left on the bill, and not the subtotal before the gift card was applied. This would result in very low tip percentages sometimes because most customers do not understand this.

Recent user interface changes
Comments: Until the recent update, I had a great experience with toast. This update should have been focus grouped by the people who interact with it on a regular basis. Making changes like this only cuts into the ability of a business to make money. Your job as a technology company is to make making money easier not more difficult.
Pros:
The Toast version prior to the latest change was excellent on the front end. Very intuitive and organized. The problem I have is why would you change the entire functionality that made your company take the industry by storm? It seems irresponsible and disrespectful to make drastic changes without actual input from the companies you serve.
Cons:
Could be easier to adjust backend edits. The user interface update did not improve the customer experience. It was not an improvement from the former version.

Hi Gerrell, thanks for your review! We appreciate you sharing your feedback.
good technology, horrendous support!!
Comments: I'm paying over $500 per month and there is no support. wait I'm sorry there is support. there is email support, articles to read and don't forget the videos, but that doesn't work when you are in a real time situation. wait, they do have phone support, the worst. we know more than they do and were calling them for help. its like the student teaching the teacher!!
Pros:
hand held ordering. tableside payments. and a few other things.
Cons:
the worst support of any company i ever dealt with. I'm currently paying $75 dollars per month for integration. almost a month in still doesn't work. online ordering 3 weeks in still not functional, gift cards still not functional. I could go on and on.

Best for Bigger Restaurants
Pros:
There are so many POS devices in a Restaurant and Toast has one device that can take order, Create and Take Payments all in one and that is more easier for servers.
Cons:
The Bar Order taking and Payment terminal should have autodiscovery that has reachable IP addresses in the same network to be able to link it easily.

Works when it works.
Comments: We did all of our clocking in and out for all employees on the toast system along with all of our order placing. Entering products and getting them accurate sometime caused issues.
Pros:
It was really easy to use once we got it set up and going. In concept it is a wonderful product, and it could be a great asset to any restaurant.
Cons:
Customer service left something to be desired. At times we were on the phone with them for over 2 hours and we still wouldn't be up and running.

A customer service nightmare
Comments: During the discovery and on-boarding phase, Toast promised us many things. I explained our set up in detail before I purchased any equipment from Toast, and was assure that they had a hardware solution for us. When it came time to set up our system, it became apparent to me that Toast's hardware would not be compatible with our current situation. It was nearly impossible for them to understand why, or agree with me that they did not have a solution. I believe this is due to alack of communication between their sales and on-boarding team, and their technical support team.It has been over a year and I am still jumping through hoops on a monthly basis trying to get a refund for hardware and services that were never utilized by our business. We are currently using Square. Their hardware was compatible with our internet set up.
Pros:
I wish I had any pros to list, but unfortunately we did not get far enough along into the process of setting up Toast to process a single payment.
Cons:
Toast's customer service is incompetent at best and predatory at worst.

Simple, Easy and Make a small business look large
Comments: This Tablet system is Il easy to use and install. Low maintenance cost and literally is plug and play. Customer support is easy to access and quick to support our needs.
Pros:
The ever evolving addition of modules and ease of use. Simplifies our line operations and enables us to offer a loyalty program and gift cards that a small business would be challenged to offer on our own
Cons:
Toast is the simplest POS system I have ever used.
Worst POS System you can use
Comments: Horrible. I no longer wish to use it.
Pros:
Nothing at all. If I don't get support there's nothing I can like.
Cons:
Customer service sucks. There is absolutely no service support. No one can answer your questions. No fixes anything. It's a waste of time and money.
