### "Master Packager - Highly Recommended" — 5.0/5

> **Pros**: Lightweight and Packaging engineer focused, it is clearly built by people that know what a packager needs. It doesn't include endless bloat that a packager would rarely, if ever, use. In addition to Packager, the standard suite also includes Re-packager, Wrapper, and Toolbox which all provide genuinely useful added functionality. 
The free version is excellent and is far more powerful and useful than Orca or Insted it, but the Pro or Service Provider license gives you pretty much everything that a packaging engineer needs to create automated application deployments for a Modern Desktop. If you use PSADT,  Master Wrapper which is part of the Master Packager suite of tools, is the best GUI I've seen for it.
The license models allow a licensed packager free rein to install the software (current versions available for direct download or from WinGet) on any device they need it on, without limit.

> **Cons**: No major cons, though doesn't include a COM capture when importing individual files, which is, to be fair, an action packagers rarely need to do anymore. Can get around, if required, by using Re-packager 'capture' or the built in register dll custom actions.
> 
> Straightforward easy to use, built for packagers and would be an excellent tool to learn on for non packagers. I will recommend any time I'm asked for an opinion on packaging tool options.

> **Pros**: Master packager provides an amazing tool for packaging or repackaging applications which we would otherwise be unable to maintain in our environment.
Particularly difficult applications which install many sub-applications which don't clean themselves up properly when the main application is uninstalled are easily managed by repackaging as an MSI using Master Packager.
They've done a great job at creating a product to assist roles like mine

> **Cons**: Considering the issue that it resolves, any minor issues are easily looked over.
Particularly when repacking an application as an MSI, there's no way to return to previous screens to start over, you have to fully close it and reopen it.
Otherwise no real issues.

> **Pros**: I've worked with both free and paid versions of different application packagers in my 20+ years in IT. And with Master Packager even free version (not trial) has a lot to offer. Ease of use (interface is simple to navigate around) and one specific feature (custom actions like "Copy to UserProfile") make all the difference when doing typical app customization. Adding Master Wrapper (GUI for PSADT) to the mix and this becomes a killer combo.

> **Pros**: I really appreciate the clean simple interface and how many time saving features there are included. For example the templates feature for being able to apply common standards, properties, or custom actions, and the ability to run powershell scripts. One of the most unique features is the ability to apply files and/or registry values to all users on the system, removing the need to set up self-repair or active setup to achieve this.

> **Cons**: I still use InstEd a lot for the following reasons:- Faster startup time- Faster table navigation- Ability to open up multiple packages in tabs- Ability to diff 2 MSI packagesI may ditch it altogether if MP were to improve in these areas\!

> We first started using the free version as it’s simply the best free MSI editor available. We then purchased a license to obtain the repackaging functionality and have been happy with the results. Now our whole team use it and it’s the product we recommend to others when looking for a packaging tool. It’s also handy for those that don’t know PowerShell to be able to knock up a PSADT script.
