Above average so far. Our team has been able to fully implement this solution during the course of a quarter.
Pros:
Easy way to elevate our collaboration offering by providing means for our users to annotate and then communicate on a file.
Cons:
A few of the workflows are a bit confusing for users.
Also the support team is not all that responsive

"Support and PDF editing functionalities need a lot of improvements"

We were Apryse customers for two years, but the experience was underwhelming. Customer support was minimal — the only time we could reliably speak with someone was right before renewal. We also couldn’t fully adopt the SDK in production due to numerous unhandled edge cases in its PDF editing API, and their team was reluctant to make improvements to address our needs.
Pros:
PDF viewer functionality is comprehensive - allowing people to view, search, annotate, edit and download.
Cons:
PDF editing APIs are not working for many cases - not matching fonts, styles, line spacing, layouts, etc.

"Apryse in our Spring boot app and use of Word templates to PDF"

Easy to set up in our Java Spring boot application and generated PDF from our Word templates get all layout right from our template, which is very important.
Pros:
Easy to generate PDF from Word templates. Works great with simple syntax in the template to generate dynamic tables with JSON-data input. It works great for us
Cons:
Should be easier to grant a license for unlimted generation of PDFs. Not always easy for a company to know how many PDFs they will create in a year

Thank you to the very responsive support team I was able to quickly transition to the PDF SDK. I also like that the API is similar to that used by Apryse web viewer.
Pros:
I've used iTextSharp in the past, the PDF SDK is different but has excellent support for annotations
Cons:
Mostly documentation, which would benefit from more examples of common use scenarios. Licensing is a little wonky

The pre-sales technical support was excellent and made it really fast and easy to spin up a POC .
Pros:
PDFTron was by far the most feature rich product offering we looked at. Also the fact that they don't just wrap another open source rendering engine like PDFium gave us confidence they had built their product from the ground up and had total control.
Cons:
The price tag was on the higher end compared to other alternatives but for enterprise software I think its worth it for all the features they offer. They were also flexible during pricing talks to find a comfortable landing spot that worked for both parties.
