The management console has what seems to be an extremely deep learning curve, but if you are somewhat familiar with the way the services are delivered (i.e interactions and distinctions between IAM users; roles; groups; manager vs in-line policies etc) then it can begin to grow into a powerful tool. Once familiarised enough there are plenty of options and third party solutions that can be integrated and architected to automate and standardise on processes for service delivery which I think is where AWS really begins to excel. > > **Cons**: It is a gargantuan task to undertake with little or no experience, unless coming from another cloud provider potentially such as Azure or GCP. To that end you could spend a hundred hours on the platform and still find new services and errors that are completely new to you; when paired with frequent updates and changes to services, architecture and command formatting this can make managing in small or medium businesses a very daunting task. The use of third party tools such as Intruder (automatically scans your env for security concerns) feels like a baseline requirement for security and risk management. > > From the perspective of a smaller business and a solo AWS administrator without prior experience, engaging with AWS infrastructure has been a steep learning curve but never fails in fascinating me with the never ending array of services and complex architectures that can be achieved.
