Too many functions available that I will personally never use as an illustrator. Not happy with having to pay annual subscription fee. > > I’ve been using Adobe illustrator for decades; since the 1990s. If I recall they bought out Aldus Freehand which was a far simpler and in my mind far better vector illustration program; I really miss Aldus Freehand - then again I am very old school. ----- ### "Powerful tool for people who know how to use it" — 5.0/5 > **Anna** | *25 March 2025* | Design | Recommendation rating: 10.0/10 > > **Pros**: It has a lot of options for vector editing, gradient options are phenomenal, image tracing is crucial and also outlining strokes. > > **Cons**: For me it’s not my primary software and I find it not intuitive and over complicated. I do think it’s because it has a lot of advanced options but I am used to using software intuitively especially that I know InDesign very well but sometimes even similar options work very differently and sometimes are named differently. It annoys me that it is not more integrated or even friendly with InDesign. I don’t like the lack of layout options and how much slower it is to work on. It might be that I am not an illustrator though. > > I don’t like to use it but I know how powerful tool it is when you know how to use it properly. Not my primary tool. ----- ### "Goof tool for creating high-quality graphics" — 5.0/5 > **Flavia** | *19 October 2025* | Research | Recommendation rating: 8.0/10 > > **Pros**: The precision and flexibility in creating detailed, scalable graphics. It’s excellent for producing scientific figures, diagrams, posters, and publication-quality illustrations. > > **Cons**: The performance may slow down with complex files or on less powerful computers. Additionally, the subscription is a bit costly. > > Very good. Ideal to produce professional-quality outputs. Is it worth it if you will use more than for an occasional work. ----- ### "Good software for the day to day illustrate designer" — 5.0/5 > **Hayden** | *26 February 2026* | Information Technology & Services | Recommendation rating: 9.0/10 > > **Pros**: The layout of the software makes it easy and rememberable where each tool / effect can be found. The quick speed of the software also makes completing tasks a breeze. > > **Cons**: the problem i tend to run into is performing a difficult task and the software can't support it, in the past i've had the file not automatically save and have lost a couple hours work because of this. > > Positive experience with easy to use tools and friendly, understanding interface making it a useful software to use for daily usage. ----- ### "Illustrator is a Masterful Software" — 5.0/5 > **Maria** | *12 June 2026* | Retail | Recommendation rating: 10.0/10 > > **Pros**: Illustrator has had several amazing updates recently, such as removing backgrounds, and 360 turnarounds. As someone who has to create CADs to show various angles of a product, these features are invaluable to me. I now don't need to switch over to another program to help sort these issues out, everything is easily accessible within Illustrator now. > > **Cons**: I would like there to be more dynamic and varied User Interface. I don't use shortcuts, I have them visually on my screen as layers, navigator, actions, transform, swatches, it easily takes up a quarter of my screen. I would like to have more options to arrange the windows and their sizes, instead of it being set as a bar on the right of the software. > > I use Illustrator daily for my professional work, and for my personal work. It is always dependable and accurate, perfect in how it works and delivers. I couldn't be without it, and I'm excited for new updates in the future\! ----- Page: 1 / 348\ Next: [Next page](https://www.capterra.co.uk/software/1010286/adobe-illustrator?page=2) ## Links - [View on Capterra](https://www.capterra.co.uk/software/1010286/adobe-illustrator) ## This page is available in the following languages | Locale | URL | | de | | | de-AT | | | de-CH | | | en | | | en-AE | | | en-AU | | | en-CA | | | en-GB | | | en-IE | | | en-IL | | | en-IN | | | en-NZ | | | en-SG | | | en-ZA | | | fr | | | fr-BE | | | fr-CA | | | fr-LU | | | ja | | | nl | | | nl-BE | | ----- ## Structured Data
