Has good potential, but needs improvement in alerts to be a viable solution

4.0 5 months ago

Comments: We moved to another product because we had backups fail even though it showed the client was green - this ended with support saying even though it says it is successfull we should always dig deeper - I disagreed.

Pros:

It is easy to setup and use, easy to implment and easy to manage multiple tenants.

Cons:

When the backups don't work or have an error you don't always get notifications which is not good at all!

Acronis Cypber Protect Cloud - Jack of all trades, master of none

4.0 last month New

Pros:

Able to backup different OS on different platform. Agent-less backup with VMware and hyper-V. All in one solution for backup, EDR, Microsoft 365 backup, Google Workspace backup, ticketing Easy to contact support as MSP

Cons:

Backup estimation time is always inaccurate. Agent based backup all other platforms except for VMware and hyper-V. Difficulty when restoring backups stored in the Acronis Appliance. Very costly if storing backups in Acronis Cloud Can be confusing when integrating Acronis EDR and Windows Defender

Acronis Cloud2Cloud Backup for Google Workspace creates huge data volumes

2.0 2 months ago

Comments: OK, but not exciting. Too expensive, given the data growth in the backup. Will choose another product next time

Pros:

We use the Cloud Backup. It has a good management console, great variety of data centers to store the backup, helpful sales staff and does the job - except for the issues raised. The initial setup was supported by a technical consultant, which was helpful. However, raising our issues with them did not help on the long run.

Cons:

Excessive data growth, far above expectation for incremental backup; for Google Workspace Cloud to Cloud backup specifically; for Linux backups a little lesser degree, but still not explainable. Acronis claimed there was an issue but never resolved it, nor provided suggestions on how to re-configure the backup for better results. The management console is technically driven, so expect some minutes to learn their different configuration options or recovery process. Expect having to read the manual in detail when evaluating Acronis, as the details how the backup is performed seems to be part of our issue.

Useful for PC configuration (image backup and restore)

4.0 2 years ago

Comments: Easy to operate because cloud backup can be performed with the same configuration as on-premises. Pricing is more economical than other services. An introductory one for those who do not use cloud services. We only restored the server as a test, but we converted the image to a model different from the physical server. Servers can be restored even in case of fire or disaster damage.

Pros:

Since the operation during backup is relatively light, the resource utilization rate during backup does not increase much, even on low-specification servers. Easy-to-install agents. Easy to understand user interface. Many functions help to secure your data.

Cons:

Email notifications are sent after the backup, but the email notifications do not arrive if the server fails. It would be nice if the cloud side could send a problem notification email if the backup were not done on the scheduled date and time. Reasonably priced and easy to operate.

Acronis Response

Hello! Thanks for the review. As about the email notifications, you can enable alert for missed backups in the options of each particular protection plan. And then enable the daily recap about active alerts.

Set it, Forget it, and Know That Your Important Data is Backup Up

4.0 6 years ago

Comments: I've been using Acronis backup products for nearly a decade, and their Cloud backup solution for about two years. I use it on a few computers, and it works very well on all of them! I typically use it to create a full image backup to a USB drive when I first get (and configure) a new computer, and then do automatic, file-level backups to the cloud on a daily basis.

Pros:

Acronis Backup Cloud is straight-forward to install and setup on your computer, then runs quietly in the background, and includes robust ransomware detection. It also has a cloud-based management console which allows you to manage and restore from your web browser. There are some great plans for those of us who want to use it on multiple computers. I also called their support to handle a minor issue, and they got it resolved very quickly for me.

Cons:

The only thing that I wish was better, is using the web-based management console to mange backups that from multiple computers. It seems like it groups all of the files together in a mass, single directly, and I'd like to see this be able to be separated by computer name, etc.

3-2-1 Backup is not optional for self-employed

5.0 6 years ago

Comments: I have Acronis installed on 5 devices: 2 smartphones, 1 desktop, and 2 laptops. which is perfect for me, my business, and personal backups. great product for self-employed!

Pros:

Acronis has always been an industry standard with imaging and ease of use. I have been using a version of the product since 2005! Software has a small footprint, easy to install, easy to use, and it just works.

Cons:

Pricing over the years has varied, and when the Acronis Cloud product first came out, it was unlimited storage, and the following year, it was discontinued and storage costs drove the pricing. I get it about storage, but also dislike the fact that I have to maintain the software, storage, files ect versus the set-it-and-forget-it capability I had gotten used to.

Decent Back up Service

5.0 2 years ago

Pros:

When the back up works, it works well. Support is helpful the one time I needed assistance.

Cons:

Initial set up of the back up plans and creating a new client can get confusing. Sometimes the back up error messages are vague.

Simple and yet powerful backup software

5.0 2 years ago

Pros:

It helps use to provide additional layer of data security and data loss prevention to our current Google Workspace environment. It is also very easy to deploy to end user clients to store encrypted backups of systems in the cloud. Support is fast and very dedicated to help you find a solution or suggest it to the dev team for implementation.

Cons:

Nothing negative to say really, easy to implement and fast and dedicated customer support.

Terrible QA with new features. Not worth the hassle

1.0 7 years ago

Pros:

Basic functions are easy to use. If all you want to do is basic Backup its usable. The webinterface is easy to learn as long as its working that day.

Cons:

Software constantly has bugs and Acronis likes to implement new features that aren't ready. They often remove features and then tell us to "program" our own solution around it. As an MSP serving many customers, its not worth the trouble. When we had a critical restore that would not restore and we were told it was a "bug". A bug that means you can't restore is a deal breaker for a backup solution.

Solid backups, reliable restores

5.0 6 years ago

Comments: Overall this has saved us a couple of time from human error that could have set up back a lot of hours of work.

Pros:

The ability to dig into a backup and retrieve a file without having to download the entire backup is just awesome. I've used this feature multiple times and it's fantastic.

Cons:

The admin layout took some getting used to, once you've got it, it's very functional and it makes sense, for me though it took me a couple of tries to grab hold of.

When it works, it's pretty good

3.0 7 years ago

Pros:

The agent installer comes as an MSI so it can be deployed via script/GPO. the installation procedure is very quick.

Cons:

When it works, it's decent. When it doesn't work, it's a disaster. The email notifications are nearly useless, with error messages that are cryptic at best; troubleshooting frequently requires assistance from support. Support is hit-or-miss, with initial (non-automated) response times running from a few hours to 2-3 days. It is possible for backups to be complete "successfully" but still be corrupted.

Buggy software

2.0 6 years ago

Comments: This software is usable, but requires the user to have a deep knowledge base as well as the correct hardware to actually connect drives to do cloning. Additionally, for ease of use make sure the destination drive is larger that the source drive. Even if the data that is cloned will easily fit on a smaller destination drive the software can glitch and will not allow you to copy it.

Pros:

The fact that this software has a free cloning component is nice and it is designed to work with Crucial SSD and HDD drives. The customer service is adequate as well.

Cons:

There is a known issue with the software that required me to contact customer service in order to get a patch. This information was not readily available and took some time to figure out. Once patched the software worked 80% of the time. This means that out of cloning 5 identical spec drives one did not work and required the purchase of additional hardware.

It works at time but it also tends to mess up at times.

3.0 7 years ago

Comments: An total backup of the system so we can install new Hard drives from ones that died.

Pros:

When it doesn't it a pain to figure out what's going wrong and how to fix it without support help.

Cons:

When it works it works well but when it doesn't it a pain to figure out what's going wrong and how to fix it without going to support.
