Cons:
Complex reconciliation when currency charges are deducted, sure you can make an adjustment, but it always feels clunky
Alternatives Considered: Sage Accounting
Reasons for Switching to Xero: Accountant recommended it, as it was something they liked working with
It does what it says

Best for experienced accountants.
Comments: Easy to setup. We never had trouble with Xero. We liked being able to easily customize reports.
Pros:
Easy, simple interface. No multi-layer menus or hard-to-find commands. Easy to find options and customize.
Cons:
The product is meant for more advanced accountants. It doesn't lead you through accounting procedures like QuickBooks. Xero is meant for experienced accountants.
Xero - market leader for online bookkeeping system
Comments: Overal experience has been very good and we still recommend this software to our clients.
Pros:
Xero has got very good set of features and it is considered a market leader with regards to online bookkeeping software.
Cons:
Xero is slow to listen to their customers feedback and often prioritizes other work and development rather than the features most required.
Alternatives Considered: QuickBooks Online Advanced
Reasons for Choosing Xero: We wanted an online system that actually works
Switched From: Sage Accounting
Reasons for Switching to Xero: Xero is more reliable in terms of VAT management, as QuickBooks often has problems with full reconciliation of the VAT account.

The performance in the browser is very sluggish these days.

SME Owner - New Zealand
Comments: Very good, especially once you use the power of the reports and all.
Pros:
We used to use MYOB but found that Xero is much better in terms of the reporting and ease of use.
Cons:
Inventory could be improved but it is really an accounting software so a very minor issue.
Good accounting software for small businesses
Comments: I have been using Xero for over 15 years. I have worked for other clients who use other competitors and this is by far the best user experience. I also think the pricing is fair and transparent.
Pros:
Easier to use than most on the market and for a small business does everything I need. Including VAT submission.
Cons:
I think if you have limited accounting experience it would be hard to set up. But once you are up and running it is easy to maintain.
Alternatives Considered: QuickBooks Solopreneur
Reasons for Switching to Xero: I found it easier to use and preferred the workflow and interface.
Mobile Access such a bonus.
Comments: The integrations and mobile access is a plus, unlimited users also makes life easier. The lack of phone support can be a hurdle especially with a learning curve for new users. Overall a good platform that makes life easier.
Pros:
Could have Unlimited Users, has extensive integrations, felt user friendly, real time reporting, mobile app was a big bonus.
Cons:
Customer Support wasn't offered by phone, Could be a challenge to new users to understand how to use, Customization is limited, pricing can get steep especially for Small businesses.
Alternatives Considered: FreshBooks
Reasons for Choosing Xero: Was trying to explore other options as Quickbooks keeps increasing prices and also trying to take a lot of my communities clients.

Xero review
Comments: I have been using Xero for 6 years now and generally I am pleased
Pros:
It links to my CRM and is generally easy to use
Cons:
Some reports are not easy to use and there could be more detail in the reports
Seems good if you have the time
Comments: I used it for 6 months then stopped because I felt like I didn't get any value out of it. It was difficult to use and my accountant was reluctant to use it too. Just restarted my subscription because I see no other way than to spend the time learning how to use it.
Pros:
Automatically reconciles transactions from your bank account.
Cons:
Steep learning curve, small fonts, app is very text heavy, unsure how to log future transactions that haven't happened yet.
Alternatives Considered: QuickBooks Online
Reasons for Choosing Xero: Bookkeeping manually was too time consuming
Switched From: Google Sheets
Reasons for Switching to Xero: Free 6 month trial with Monzo premium business account
Amazing at efficiency
Comments: Overall I can't imagine using different software. We briefly used Sage for payroll and it was too detailed and clunky, with Xero it was an easy setup and efficient process each time.
Pros:
Simplicity and ease of use. You don't have to be a qualified accountant to be able to use it, but if you are, the whole system is very helpful and you can automate so much!
Cons:
The support takes time to get your ticket answered but when it is, any follow-ups are quick.
Do ot use Xero acciunt if you will need support
Comments: Fairly satisfactory, I had an issue with updating my payment details but there was an issue and support was useless.
Pros:
REDUCED TIME-RELATED TO DATA CAPTURING and cloud-based - no backup needed or software updates
Cons:
The support is very basic and no real solutions are provided. If you have an issue with Xero - you are on your own!!!!
Alternatives Considered: Sage 300cloud
Reasons for Choosing Xero: Xero is expensive and support in pretty useless
Switched From: Sage Accounting
Reasons for Switching to Xero: I like the option that capturing is easy
Perfect for Small Businesses
Comments: Overall, Xero is a great accounting software and it is my favourite of the few I have used (MYOB, SAP).
Pros:
Intuitive and modern UI. Very simple to use and a great experience all around. Lots of integrations with external software (Xemplo, ETZ for example), making it very versatile.
Cons:
It works great for us now, but we are reaching a point where it is too simple for our needs. No robust cost centre/division tracking abilities (although a basic version is offered). Not a lot of support for consolidation of multiple entities built in.
Alternatives Considered: MYOB Business and QuickBooks Enterprise
Reasons for Switching to Xero: Simple and lots of integrations. Was reasonably priced at the time.
Xero simplifies bookkeeping!
Comments: Over-all I like Xero so much. I find it easy to maintain the books with its user-friendly interface. Also a plus points for a variety of apps you can integrate with it making bookkeeping tasks so easy.
Pros:
It's super friendly to use, functions are so easy to navigate, and their support team is very active when it comes to our concerns.
Cons:
As of now they're having issues with foreign exchange in Wise causing a huge bank revaluation amount... but could be resolved by removing and redoing the reconciliation of the transaction. By far my only issue is the extra-time needed to do the recon due to this issue.
Xero is Easy to use
Comments: Fantastic. I love how when you send an support email, it tells you when you can expect a response.
Pros:
The custom reporting and I love cash coding - so quick. Great customer service.

The only con with Xero is that it does not have payroll applications yet.
Alternatives Considered: QuickBooks Online
Reasons for Choosing Xero: Wanted to be cloud based not on desk top
Switched From: Sage Accounting

Accounting with Xero is Amazing
Pros:
Xero is the most iconic tool that I have ever used. I like that it offers a wide range of online accounting tools such as AP, AR, GL and payment matching in one place.
Cons:
Whenever I face issues, the vendor technical team is rapid in resolving the bug - currently, there is no daunting aspect.

Pros:
Xero automates over 78% of manual repetitive accounting tasks such as AP,AR and GL which saves time and improve productivity leading to high performance and ROI.
Cons:
The back-up reporting on the previous version wasn’t easy to filter - kudos to the vendor for updating it.
Very agile for small businsesses
Comments: This software is very user-friendly and customisable. It is very good for small businesses to keep track of their quotes and easily convert those quotes into invoices to show a clear journey from quote to invoice to paid work completed.
Pros:
You have the ability to create a quote, add your own notes and narrative, save templates, and convert quotes into invoices, all going directly to the customer and requesting them to pay using the method that makes sense for your small business.
Cons:
Seemingly unable to set a budget limit for a project, attribute hours towards it, and to let you know once this has reached it's limit/not exceeded it.
