Practicalities and challenges of Google Drive.

5.0 last month New

Comments: Google Drive is very practical and reliable with great access and integration. The storage limit and organization could be improved, but it remains essential in my day-to-day life.

Pros:

I really like the cloud storage, Google Workspace integration, real-time collaboration, easy sharing, automatic backup, compatibility, fast search, and security.

Cons:

The cons that I didn't like were the free storage limit of only 15 GB, the need for an internet connection, the sync speed, file organization, version control, privacy, collaboration limitations, and limited integration with other software.

Great for File Sharing and File Loss Protection

3.0 4 years ago

Comments: The overall ease of access and sharing on Google Drive makes work easier. Files are protected, easy to organize, and easy to access. Having essential media files backed up in case of a computer crash is paramount to the protection of hours of work as a musician. Losing hours of work is devastating and attempting to recreate the material from scratch is extremely difficult. Every musician knows it is essential to back up your files!

Pros:

Google Drive is a service that gives you a large amount of free space (15 gigabits) and additional storage for a monthly fee. As a musician, I upload files onto Google drive to share to my bandmates and anyone in the world. Beings that media files are typically large, the benefit of a large amount of storage for a small fee is a great value. This service also gives me peace of mind that my files will stay safe in the event of a computer crash (files stay on the cloud). I can share access to my Google Drive so the rest of my band can access entire folders of files.

Cons:

The compression of the files can lower the quality of the media.

I would recommend this!

5.0 2 months ago

Comments: My overall experience with Google Drive was positive. If I suddenly had to go without it in my professional or personal life it would probably slow me down. I would recommend using Google Drive. There's no reason to pay extra when there's a great service available for less.

Pros:

I would recommend Google Drive mainly because it's so affordable and still dependable. I've never lost anything or had any major problems. I've never been worried about running out of room which is a huge relief. I think it's very easy to use, and usually it's the default application on my devices. When I click share on a file Google drive pops up as the first option. I was able to easily find the backup and automatic backup settings. It's also easy for me to control who has access.

Cons:

I've only had one problem. Recently when logging in to Google Drive, Google required that I change my password even though I'd had no problems logging in or anything remotely like that. That was really frustrating because I couldn't even change it back to the old one later on. I like to use one secure password across most of my accounts so that I don't risk losing access. I hope this was a one off and doesn't happen again.

I like that I can install Google Drive on my desktop to quickly and easily access my files with the added bonus of being able to download the app for my phone and access my content from other devices at any time.

Enhance your File management with Google Drive

5.0 3 weeks ago New

Comments: My experience with google drive has been impactful as I use this tool every day to manage my files and creating drive links for the reports. Managing data for my whole department is a mess but google drive everything is easy and convenient. As a Data Analyst I recommend this could storage to everyone.

Pros:

My favorite aspect of google drive is that multiple people can work of same document using google drive, google slides, google docs etcetera. Also, it provides a feature of version history which help in tracking and going back to the previous version of document. Moreover, one can manage who can access the file and even with the like anyone can access it.

Cons:

Finding a file through search is a nightmare since I have a lot of data and files it takes a lot me to find files. Sharing drives within the organization and different departments can be a little complex which could to potential breach for confidential files.

Best cloud storage platform hands down!

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: I love it, its hard to believe I used external hard drives all the time before I got my google account. Makes it so easy to share pictures and videos with my clients and the email notifications that I uploaded for them makes it easy so I do not have to reach out every single time. Of course I feel confident in the storage solution and makes me not have to worry about hard drives failing knowing that google has me covered. Its truly the best solution in my opinion.

Pros:

The easiness of sharing documents and files with others. I love that I can make different folders with different people able to view the content. Everyone has a google account and I feel like it is the most universal and best platform to use for cloud storage. I have never met someone that doesn't have a google account so its easy to share. Team folders are great for collaborations. I like that even if someone deletes something on accident not only is there a paper trail of who did it but you can still recover files within a certain time frame incase something does happen. I love the Google File Stream integration that allows you to pretty much see your google drive as a USB drive that is plugged into your computer.

Cons:

I dislike working between the browser and apps the most. I feel like the interfaces are a little different and just have to learn what each can and cant do or how to do it on one or the other. However that is me being really nit picky and I honestly do not see much wrong with this cloud storage site.

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: I love drive and use it every day to share every kind of document to organizing all of my tasks and holding my team accountable to their key result areas. The options are endless and I feel like I'm always learning something that is even more helpful.

Pros:

Google Drive is so easy to use internally and externally working with outsourced businesses/clients. Google Drive is well known and user-friendly to those who don't use it normally.

Cons:

There are some restrictions to different versions of drive that make it difficult to share certain things with business partners or internally depending on the G-suite and business formats purchased.

I couldn't run my business without Google Drive!

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: The greatest benefit of Google Drive is that it's a simple, user-friendly solution to cloud storage AS WELL AS an office suite. No more expensive upgrades for software to create documents!

Pros:

Google Drive is the backbone of my business. It's important that I be able to share important docs with my clients and contractors. GDrive makes it so easy to do that. We can create, update, and share documents, spreadsheets, media, etc. and never have to worry about what kind of computer someone has or specialized software.

Cons:

I honestly can't think of any negatives for Google Drive. Maybe it would be nice to have more storage? But it's so affordable to add a little more when you need it! Google Drive was easy to integrate with my business because almost everyone has a Google account these days.

The most user-friendly content storage out there

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Great! We use it every day as it integrates very well with all of our programs and devices.

Pros:

The ease of use is the best feature of Google Drive. We upload and share content across many users in which Google Drive makes it very easy to collaborate.

Cons:

I have two accounts with Google Drive-- a personal and business account. The business account is paid in which it has larger storage capacity. The personal account is free in which it is almost always running out of space. I'd suggest adding more space to personal accounts to back up photos and videos.

Google Drive

5.0 6 years ago

Comments: I work as a Financial Officer and use Drive almost on a daily basis. There are multiple reports that are (updated either by me or the other users with edit permission) used in our weekly meeting and the data needs to be accurate, current and in a single format and Drive has allowed us to make this happen. Before Drive, everyone would print out and bring their reports and we would spend time flipping back and forth between pages and it was not productive and easy to become frustrated. Now using Google Drive we go into our meeting knowing that we are prepared and are able to accomplish our goals more quickly and efficiently than ever before.

Pros:

There is not just one thing I like most, so I have included several of my favorites: *Being able to upload files to Google Drive in a matter of seconds. *The ability to share documents with other people but with limits/permissions. For example, Tom needs some totals from my excel spreadsheet to include with his reports for management. When I share this file with Tom I give him permission to see the file, but not to make any changes or edit. *When you share a file, an email is sent to the person letting them know that a file has been shared with them and includes a direct link to that file. *Organization and search features are great and easy to navigate. You can create folders to keep files organized and if you are having trouble finding a file that someone has shared with you there is a filter that shows you all files that have been shared with you and by whom.

Cons:

To be able to share and send files using Google Drive the recipient has to have a gmail email address. While many people do have a gmail account not everybody I correspond with has one.

Ally of my personal and professional life

5.0 6 years ago

Comments: I use Google Drive for many things. There I have put together documents of everything I need to have on hand both on the computer and on the smartphone. I use it mainly to distribute a weekly session of journalistic work, in which each journalist has topics assigned to write his news in the week. In this way, everyone can see the news that each person has and the transparency in the work can be seen. I also keep photos and videos that I want to keep forever. I send serial chapters and movies from Venezuela to my brother who is in Spain. It's great, I recommend it 100%.

Pros:

Google Drive, like all applications developed by Google, is an excellent option to solve everyday problems and make use of technologies to have an easier life. It is a tool that has enhanced the service that a cloud of storage on the Web normally offers. It allows you to save photos, save files in different formats, create files in the cloud to share with many people and everyone can edit them, as well as save large volume files of your emails and even create backup copies of your smartphones. Pros - It's an excellent cloud. - If you have developed a document in the tool and share it with other people you can see it and edit it at the same time as you. - You can upload heavy files and save them there to download them at any time or place. - All the information is synchronized with your smart devices and you have it available anywhere in the world.

Cons:

- If you do not protect your access password very well, you may lose information about your account. - If a document has several editors and some of them delete the information you can lose it forever. - If you want more storage you must subscribe to an expensive plan. - You always need Internet to navigate in this tool.

Awesome New User Interface and Price Changes for Extra Space

5.0 6 years ago

Comments: I am using Google Drive for the last three years. I have never lost my data or got a problem that couldn't be solved by the Google team. The best thing about the Google service is its team which helps quickly and solve the issue if it comes. The new UI and Price changes made it more likable. I hope it will be improved further especially the prices. I recommend Google Drive to everyone who has storage problem or their data get lost or corrupted in local storage. I am happy to have a reliable service provider and I use it daily to store and sync my data.

Pros:

Google has done a great job with the new user interface design of Google Drive. Now it looks easier to work with it because of its left side panel from where it is easy to add a new folder, file, doc, sheet, etc. The new font and Iconography looks really crisp from before. The new price changes made by Google Drive are also pretty likable such as the prices of Google One and others because the price range is now more affordable than before, which made me really happy to have more space even I pay less for it. I always love discounts so, this initiative made me really happy. Auto update of packages was great as I was using 100GB plan and automatically upgrade helped me to get more storage on that same price which made me more happy with the google drive storage service.

Cons:

The competitor iCloud provides more space in less amount. It would be really appreciated if Google Drive provide it on same price or less, but as Google Drive's Free storage is still better then iCloud's storage and the User Interface beats it. So I will still prefer Google Drive over iCloud Storage. I will not compare Google Drive with Microsoft 365 Storage or Dropbox because they are charging more for fewer space and services. For me Google Drive is a winner and up in the competition because of its Prices and User Friendly Interface which no other service providers privides.

This software changed the game

5.0 6 years ago

Comments: It's amazing, I love these Google products and the fact they are so good has really made me change my mind about Google as a company as a whole. I understand they get access to reams of user data, the likes of which has never been seen before when giving this app out for so cheap, but it really feels like an act of philanthropy. I don't think group collaboration or business will ever be the same again. This software opens the world up to everybody everywhere, no longer having to crack a version of Microsoft in order to start a company or send your dissatation to your teacher.

Pros:

It's changed the whole way people do personal computing. The price is so affordable, the ease of use is out of this world and the ability to now collaborate with others will never be the same again. Firstly the way I can edit documents in real time with other people is extraordinary, this has saved me so much pain and frustration having to export document formats so people on different operating systems can tediously format them to see what I'm doing and send them back. Secondly, I can't imagine the amount of genius in this world has been lost to a crashing computer, weeks of work disappearing due to an old machine or crashing software. I know students will never be able to use this excuse again and for them that's sad, but my work constantly being saved to the cloud so I never lose it is unbelievable. Next the revision software you can do on Google drive documents. The fact I can go back into my revision history and see who did what when and jump back. I wouldn't have even imagined this was possible. Lastly, the awesome document link sharing feature, sharing a link so easily to get others accsess is awesome.

Cons:

The sharing feature drives me mad, every time I move a file around my drives it asks me if I'm sure I want to share the file with people in the new file. This is so annoying. I know exactly who and why I am sharing my files with, this safety feature is so tedious. Also the fact I have to change the sharing options every time I share the file with somebody, you've sent a document to somebody happy that the next day they are going to make the edits and you get an email back in the AM saying "sorry I couldn't do the work, I didn't have the correct accsess", I'd rather learn the lesson the hard way (somebody getting the file that I didn't want them to) than having to update the sharing settings everytime I give somebody a link.

Live. Love. Drive.

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: We use Google Drive as part of the Google Business Suite at our organization and have switched over to it almost exclusively for document storage and creating and collaborating on working documents. We can't imagine doing our work without it and appreciate that it is so universal. Even internationals with whom we work are familiar with the software and find it easy to jump in with us at whatever project stage we are at.

Pros:

I was jerryrigging an approximation of Google Drive before it even existed by going into Gmail and saving files as attachments to draft emails. Then logging in from another computer to access them. Thank goodness I don't have to do that anymore! Google Drive is the best way to make sure you have your files when you need them, no matter where you go, or what device you have access to. It's my first stop when I need to create a document, spreadsheet, or business presentation. Plus, with our organization's recent upgrade to the Business Suite, storage space is no longer a concern. I would pay for it, even if I were just using it personally. That's how much it means to me.

Cons:

The only issues I run into with Google Drive are those that reflect my own disorganized nature. Sometimes I have trouble finding what I'm looking for because I don't have a great filing system. But that's where the search bar comes in handy. The other frustrations I run into with Drive are when others use it incorrectly. Like sharing a file without opening up file sharing permissions. Or being logged into a different Google account when they make edits and leave comments. It's nothing that can't be overcome with a little training and a sprinkling of needed knowledge gained from personal experience or from the help forums.

Couldn't Live Without It!

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: I love working with Drive and have no major complaints—especially since it's free! It's a great tool for storage, sharing and collaborating.

Pros:

Google drive is hands-down my go-to file sharing, storage, and collaboration tool. It is incredibly easy to use and learn, even for non-tech-savvy folks. It is also easy to manage and organize, given parties actively work to keep things organized. File sharing and collaboration is a breeze and probably my favorite part about the Drive system. You can work in a doc, sheet, or presentation simultaneously with multiple parties and all changes and updates are saved in real-time. The drag and drop functionality also makes it crazy easy to upload various files and documents straight from your desktop. I also like that you can easily add/resolve comments with other collaborators, it makes the back-and-forth of projects so much easier. Drive easily integrates with tons of other tools and products, which can definitely come in handy. Drive has also been incredibly reliable for me in the past! I don't think I've ever experienced any issues with downtime, errors, etc.

Cons:

Drive can easily become disorganized, especially in a business environment, so having organizational processes and procedures in place is key to making Drive work for a team. This also naturally makes Drive a better fit for personal use or for small-medium teams. It really isn't designed to replace a full-blown file-sharing system for large business use. The search functionality can also be a bit limited when working with large amounts of files, but specific items are generally easy to locate and manage given a little extra effort.

The only reasonably priced file sharing solution for media companies

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: Google Drive has been an integral part of our company since 2015, a year after we started. For a media company, file space racks up FAST. Especially since we are keeping all the original audio files. We find ourselves quickly using up all our dropbox space. We explore self-hosted solutions like OwnCloud but we cannot risk having our physical server or hard disks fail on us. Usually I do not trust services that touts unlimited storages, but from Google, I will trust.

Pros:

The cost is the main pros of this service. At the low price of $12/user/month, we get access to email, an entire office suite as well as unlimited file storage via Google Drive. The download speed is fast, I mean, it's by Google, what else do I need to say.

Cons:

Frankly, there is no much cons that I have. It works exactly like dropbox but at a fraction of it's cost and comes with more features.

All Roads Lead Back to Google Drive

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: My experience with Drive has gotten better over time as I have gotten comfortable with the concept of the "Cloud." Today it is so easy for me to use that I don't give it a second thought.

Pros:

I didn't realize what Drive did when I downloaded it years ago: I really didn't get the concept of saving files to the Cloud . When programs like Dropbox came out later it made sense. As my solo practice has grown I find Drive to be an easy way to save files and folders to the Cloud and in the same way my files are saved in my PC. Because Google has its own counterparts to Microsoft programs like Word and Excel they are available immediately in Drive, so I can start writing and saving items without having to go outside of Drive; I will later download files to my PC to work with them in Word and Excel. Drive documents are easy to attach to Gmail emails as it has its own icon for attachment; it's also helpful in emailing larger files. I also understand that it is less expensive to buy more GB of storage than the other well-known programs, but I don't have personal knowledge..

Cons:

Sometimes I worry about saving files to Drive and not knowing what folder to put it in. Drive does allow you to choose where the file will be saved, but many times I don't know where I want the file saved, so I just save it without putting it in a folder, and then go back and move the file to the appropriate folder. That is extra work but it's not an issue.

Google Drive is a Best opportunity for Freelancers

4.0 3 years ago

Comments: As a freelancer i have a great experience with google drive. Easily i have share data of my projects with my clients and get all the requirements also here on google drive.
so overall i have a great experience with it

Pros:

As a freelancer, Google drive is my first and foremost selection to deal with my clients efficiently. I upload all necessary documents in Google Drive to share with my friends. My clients feel it convenient to use this service because it allows sharing a file in each format. The other benefit I get from Google Drive is the security implementations. I can lock my files as well as I can share my data with limited and selected persons. Advanced encryption of 256-bit never allows the hacker to hack our essential personal data. Its protection with a cloud storage system is incredible. The storage characteristics of Google drive is highly appreciated to me. Google drive offers me 15GB of data for free to store essential files. I can easily save and upload my family pictures to this service. The other offer I get from Google drive is 100GB of data for two years. Yes, Google drive also provides free 100GB of data for two years. You can also avail this opportunity as well from the free storage system of Google drive. I can access my photos, presentation and files in any format at any place in the world. I have to log in to my Google account and start using this service. I don't need to take a USB or CD during travelling. I have no words on the speed of downloading and uploading files. I enjoy the working of this service. It reduces time wastage and all confusion to me. I can make multiple folders in Google drive. You can manage your complete specific information in a related folder. I

Cons:

The security threats of Google drive sometimes makes me feel unsure. Google drive gives a potential security system that means it can harm my computer physically or non physically. There might be a chance of viruses in my computer. There are also chances of my computer threatening after excess info and location info to a hacker. Google drive always demand an internet connection. Sometimes, I don't have good signals to use this service. I feel trouble at that time using google drive. The necessary internet access for Google drive is somehow the least interested to me. The other difficulty I face from the Google drive is the file size limits. Google drive is restricted to upload high-quality files and videos. The working of this service becomes slow when dealing with high MBS files. For that, I minimize the quality of files, which is undesired to me. The next factor, which is the slightest desire to me, is unpredictable third party access. I even don't know which applications are getting access to my Google drive. I decrease my trust in data security issues. Some applications on my computer are directly attached to this service. These are the only few issues I face in using Google drive. Otherwise, I have good experience with this excellent service.

"Google Drive: Reliable and User-Friendly Cloud Storage and File Sharing"

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Overall, my experience with Google Drive has been positive. The convenience of being able to access my files from any device and the ability to collaborate with others in real-time are major advantages. The integration with other Google apps like Gmail and Google Docs makes it even more useful. The storage capacity is generous and the ability to purchase more storage if needed. However, the interface can be difficult to navigate and organize large numbers of files. The search function can also be limited in its ability to find specific files. Additionally, the file sharing feature can be confusing for some users and the process of sharing files with people outside of your organization can be time-consuming. Some users also report issues with syncing between devices and experiencing slow upload or download speeds. Overall, it's a good tool with some minor drawbacks.

Pros:

Google Drive is a great tool for storing and sharing files. One of the things I like most about it is the convenience of being able to access my files from any device with an internet connection. The ability to collaborate on documents in real-time with others is also a huge plus. The integration with other Google apps like Gmail and Google Docs makes it even more useful. My review of using google drive

4.0 last year

Comments: One of the things that I like most about Google Drive is the ease of use and accessibility. It is straightforward to navigate, and the integration with other Google services, such as Docs and Sheets, makes it seamless to work on collaborative documents with others. The real-time editing and commenting features have been particularly helpful for me when working on group projects or sharing feedback on a document.Another benefit of using Google Drive is that it offers a generous amount of free storage space, which has been helpful for me to keep my files organized and accessible from anywhere. Additionally, the ability to access my files from any device with an internet connection has been a game-changer for me, as it allows me to work remotely and stay productive on the go.However, there have been some limitations and potential downsides to using Google Drive. For instance, I have found that the offline access can be somewhat limited and unreliable, which can be frustrating when I need to access a file quickly. Additionally, there have been some privacy concerns surrounding the platform, which has made me cautious about storing sensitive or confidential information on the platform.Overall, despite some limitations, I would recommend Google Drive to anyone looking for a reliable and convenient cloud-based storage and collaboration platform. It has been a valuable tool for me to stay organized, collaborate with others, and access my files from anywhere.

Pros:

Accessibility: I really appreciate that I can access my files and documents from anywhere with an internet connection. This means that I can work on my projects and access my files from my laptop, tablet, or smartphone, no matter where I am.Collaboration: I love that I can easily collaborate on documents and projects with others in real-time. This feature is particularly useful when working on group projects or when I need to get feedback from my colleagues or clients.Integration: It's great that Google Drive integrates seamlessly with other Google products, like Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Slides. This makes it easy to share files and collaborate on documents, even if I'm not physically in the same location as my collaborators.Customization: I really appreciate that I can organize my files and folders in a way that works best for me. I can create folders and subfolders, rename files, and even color-code my folders to help me stay organized and find my files more quickly.Security: I feel confident that my files and data are safe and secure on Google Drive. The platform uses industry-standard encryption and security protocols to protect my information from unauthorized access or theft.Free storage: Finally, I really like that Google Drive offers 15 GB of free storage for every user. This is a generous amount of storage and allows me to store and access all of my important files and documents without having to worry about running out of space. If I ever need more storage

Cons:

Limited offline access: While I appreciate the convenience of having my files stored in the cloud, I sometimes find it frustrating that I need an internet connection to access them. Although Google Drive does offer some offline access, it can be limited and doesn't always work smoothly.Privacy concerns: While I trust that Google takes the security of my data seriously, I am sometimes worried about the privacy of my files, especially if they contain sensitive or confidential information. It would be helpful if Google could provide more detailed information about how they secure user data.Learning curve: While I have been using Google Drive for some time, I still find it to be a complex platform with many features that I haven't fully explored. I think that it could be made more user-friendly and intuitive for new users.File format compatibility: Although Google Drive supports a wide range of file formats, I have sometimes run into compatibility issues when trying to work with certain types of files. It can be frustrating when I have to convert files or use other software applications to work with them.Limited customer support: While I haven't had any major issues with Google Drive, I do think that their customer support options could be improved. It can be difficult to find answers to specific questions or to get help when something goes wrong.
