My Tours has significantly enhanced our visitor experience, saved money, and made tours easier

Pros:

How easy it is to add and maintain content to deliver a polished, professional, and customized app without requiring specialized skills or outside contractors. This app has greatly improved the way we deliver tours and reduced our costs (both direct expenses and staff time).

Cons:

There are limitations in the tour building interface (most notably the ability to move individual stops between tours) but there are reasonable work-arounds and the developer is highly responsive with support and regular improvements.

Comments: Ease of project development; excellent look and feel; great support; overall very good experience.

Pros:

The app was easy to use from the back end (intuitive) and allowed for all the features we were looking for in our walking tour project: off-line use, GPS location, audio files, video, photo, etc.

Cons:

We didn't have the posibility of providing permissions to "add only", "delete spots", "edit text" or "view only" on the back end which hurt us a bit when one of our content developers over thought some things and deleted where they should not have. It made it a bit hard to go back and find what connect had been on the deleted spots. Perhaps a 5 day "reactivation" of deleted spots could be a useful option if a mistake is made. But then again the error was a human one and not that of My Tours. Hard to develop out every potential for human error/misunderstanding. Each spot (primary or secondary) only allowed for one audio recording. We often wanted more than one and had to find away around that by creating secondary spots just to house additional audio content like interviews).

Overall amazing, great customer support and a good cms to build the tours.

Comments: Great CMS to build nice tours for our museum visitors.

Pros:

The CMS to build the tours and the customer support. customer support was of great help for the museum.

Cons:

Ther is no option to automatically draw lines between locations, so that users can navigate easily. It might also be a good idea to have an explanation section for the symbols in the app, especially for our museum because a lot of our visitors are older people.

The ideal platform for your walking tour!

Comments: I almost never write reviews of any kind, but I feel compelled to do so in this case because of my outstanding experience with MyTours. Their tour builder is designed for simplicity and ease-of-use, with an intuitive interface and quick learning curve. But this doesn't mean that they've sacrificed functionality. Every feature that I could imagine is included in the basic product, and you're not forced to upgrade to a premium version to get the job done. I can't say enough good things about their technical support. Frankly, I was a bit skeptical about the responsiveness I might receive from halfway around the globe (I'm in California). But I always got a timely and complete response to every inquiry. I also never felt that they were talking down to me if I asked a simple first-time-user question. MyTours also took care of every aspect of the process of releasing my walking tour. They advised me on how to sign up for Apple and Google developer programs. Then they handled the technical details so that I could focus on creating my content. From my initial contact with the founder and CEO Glen Barnes, through the development and release of my walking tour and beyond, my experience has been top notch. I have already recommended MyTours to a neighboring community who are in the early selection process, and will continue to do so in the future.

Deliver engaging and informative mobile tours

Comments: MyTours offers an easy, informative and engaging way to amplify learning experiences for the general public as well as for students in schools and universities to submit their research.

Pros:

Easy to use - the wizard makes it a breeze for anyone to use with minimal training.

Cons:

Would like additional gamification functionality incorporated to make the tours more engaging particularly for a younger audience.

Comments: We so enjoyed a similar kind of tour in another location, that we decided to create one for our own home-town, Napa Valley. The software allowed us to concentrate on the creative elements, the writing and script-reading (found a great guy who did some work for Pixar, and give his name on our website if interested).

Pros:

The software works, and the support met all of my needs.

Cons:

Nothing to report in a negative way, positive experience with caring people.

Portrait Tour App

Comments: I looked at many other products before I picked My Tours for our portrait tour. It was one of the few apps that were made especially for tours. I was sold after I spoke to some of their clients and heard how satisfied they were. I was computer savvy but I had no experience with apps when I started this and it was as painless as can be. Glen and Julia were extremely helpful. Despite the company being at the other end of the world from me, I would usually get answers to my many questions within 12 hours. The app is clean and robust and does exactly what it needs to do. If it could support Bluetooth beacons (my site is entirely in one building so GPS is only marginally useful here), it would be perfect!

Great platform with superb support

Comments: The new platform is somewhat less easy to use than the earlier one. This has degraded our overall user experience, yet we are launching an overhaul and new release later this year.

Pros:

Each Stop can be enriched with various media, triggered based on GPS location, with the ability to customize the tour based upon which entrance to our historic district is used.

Cons:

There are features that appear to be in the platform, yet we have been unable to activate for our outdoor tour, such as directional stops and elevation-based stops.

Pros:

We have been using it for a while - so I can tell you the upgrade over the past couple years are totally worth it! The software is so easy to use!

Cons:

I honestly cant think of anything! If I ever get stuck on something, your support staff is right there. And when they tell me how to do it, I'm always like "duh" that's easy.

Comments: Very cost effective way of getting and maintaining an app

Pros:

Easy to use. They delivered what they said they would when promised and at the agreed price. Works very well in inputting content, and the consumer front end of the app looks good. It also seems very robust as Analytics has only recorded 1 crash out of 3000+ installs (and this was in the early days when we were testing it, so could have been down to us putting in iffy content).

Pros:

Very user friendly, easy to populate the app with content without having knowledge of coding. Layout of the app looks professional and the fact that people can download tours ahead of time on wifi so they do not have to use mobile data is great.

Cons:

The only issue we have noticed is that when you tilt the screen on a device during video playback, the video restarts itself which can be annoying. Not a very big problem compared to the quality of the app overall.

Incredibly easy & straightforward process from start to finish!

Comments: One of the biggest benefits is that app interface is intuitive & easy to use.
It is also the most cost effective option for our specific project.

Pros:

Love this when I'm traveling and learning new cultures!

Comments: Overall I'm pleased with My Tours but would prefer to have a more flexible payment option such as a monthly plan.

Pros:

My Tours has 18 different languages available so that makes it very versatile.

Cons:

It can be quite expensive even for the standard plan which includes 50 tours per app. This can fill up quickly under the right circumstances.

I really appreciated the instant support from the MyTours team when I had a question.

Pros:

It's easy and intuitive to use for a non coder, and it's straightforward to upload images video and audio. The tour works in a straightforward way and looks good.

Cons:

I couldn't find a spell check within the software. Also couldn't easily insert symbols, or bullet points (formatting). It took quite a while to upload the videos, but this is likely due to my slow computer.
