Economical point of sale

Comments: I have the option to collect remotely, through a link or using the point of sale by swiping the card or without contact

Pros:

This point of sale has no monthly fees, it only charges when the point of sale is used. I like that.

Cons:

I don't like that they charge a different rate if I insert the card details directly

Reasons for Choosing Square Point of Sale: Commissions are lower on Square and I can send invoices to the client or they can send themselves their invoice when they pay through a payment link

Reasons for Switching to Square Point of Sale: I looked at several options and I didn't see a better opportunity than Square

Good app for small business

Pros:

Ease of use, quick processing and the ability to give an email receipt

Cons:

Having to constantly log back in, app would freeze intermittenly

Square POS Review as Restaurant Employee

Comments: Using Square Point of Sale has been super easy and convenient, especially with all the helpful features like tracking sales and inventory. The only downside is the fees can add up, and dealing with account holds has been a bit annoying at times.

Pros:

Square POS is easy to use because it has an intuitive interface, making it easy to set up and use, even for those without technical expertise.

Cons:

Some consumers have reported issues with funds being placed on hold or accounts being frozen due to Square's risk assessment processes.

Great for Small Businesses

Comments: Overall I liked the app for what it is. I feel like the percentage of sales it takes is a little much, especially for the simplicity of it. We mainly used square for running the bar which is not good for a fast paced environment. When running the merch area it was fine, as it isnt as busy when searching for items. Great if you are just starting out.

Pros:

Square is super easy to use and is great for small businesses.

Cons:

On the app, we had to manually enter the card number because the "tap" feature wasnt the best while doing transactions. The square device itself was always breaking and not reading the credit card correctly.

Faulty equipment

Comments: Terrible and would never recommend. Extremely hard to receive immediate help from a knowledgeable representative.

Pros:

Loved it when it worked . But I kept having to replace hardware.

Cons:

Poor quality equipment and extremely hard to reach for a qualified person to answer queries. When you call you get a person who has to keep putting you on hold to get an answer and then after taking up over 1/2 hour of your time you have gotten v nowhere! Extremely frustrating.

Comments: I've had Square for a little over two years and I have beyond satisfied with it's use; and over time, I have used more of their features

It has so many options including loans, savings accounts, debit card; and keeps great records for tax related purposes

Cons:

There's nothing that comes to mind because they are very helpful

Close accounts for no reason and hold $3,000 hostage for 90+ days

Comments: Square closed my account for no reason for my limo business and now we’re holding onto over $3,000 of my money for the next 90 days! I only had an account for a couple weeks and never had a customer issue. This is a scam!!! Avoid at all costs.

Pros:

Was easy to accept payments for 2 weeks!!

Cons:

It’s a scam! They hold your money hostage

Square has potential to be great

Comments: Square POS is actually a little complex to build out of you dont have a background in software or IT. For our coffee shops we use alot of modifiers and variations, so it is difficult to sink up the modifiers with the optons if you are building out for the first time. If you are a business without the modifiers it will be much easier.

Pros:

Square POS does exactly what any POS system should do. You upload your items for sale, and you can take payments on your phone, your square reader, or ipad.

Cons:

Square Outages are the absolute worst and they are more frequent than anything. they have put my business at a stand still at least once per quarter. We have had to switch to "off line" mode which also wasnt working. We are a coffee shop and most of our sales are from 7am-9am. We have lost so much money from the outages and good luck getting anyone from customer service. It's non-existent. PLUS the fees you pay are astronomical.

Alternatives Considered: Clover and Toast POS

Reasons for Switching to Square Point of Sale: We chose square because we use apple products and didnt want to have to buy new hardware. In hindsight we probably have lost more money in outages than new hardward would have cost us. We also now have all of our data from the last few years in Square so its hard to switch.

Couldn't do without Square

Comments: Overall I really can not complain as it provides a simple to use, valuable tool for both small and larger businesses alike

Pros:

As a small business owner Square is a fabulous tool to be able to take credit card payments, create invoices, and so much more. I honestly don't know what I'd do without it.

Cons:

Sometimes, especially when using the desktop (I'm primarily on the app on my phone) it's harder to find things as it doesn't seem to be set up quite the same as the app.

Alternatives Considered: TravelBank

Reasons for Switching to Square Point of Sale: Square was just the better choice overall. I know many banks could offer a lower fee but having everything at my fingertips is very much worth it.

Comments: Excellent, again Ive missed them. Again being able to customize pretty much everything keeps everything will organize. Separate location separate deposit separate cards everything is kept separate like totally different business but still one

Came back to them after about a yr. It's really convenient the many types of ways you can still tend to your customer. From contactless, keypad on the app, hand held. And the customization without the confusion. In addition afterpay with cash app, with your own square card. Ive missed u

Comments: I used Square as a POS in a few gift shops and many events. I love this interface for event transactions because you can easily categorize what you need and you have the ability to have portable POS options.

Pros:

Very clean and aesthetic interface, POS additions were user friendly

Cons:

Trying to navigate building a Square website is a doozy, and sometimes the help articles aren’t really helpful.

How Square has changed the way I do business

Comments: I have nothing but good things to say about Square except for a few qurks and errors, I have had a great experience learning and using Square Pos

That I can access and take it anywhere I go. I love Square for the portability the most. It' has allowed me to make sales on the go to the elderly, the people that don't have transportation, and potential new clients

Cons:

How long it takes to post you funds into your square account for instant access.

Loving Square Point of Sale

Comments: Overall very positive, and I recommend to anyone that does electronic sales/needs a terminal that I come in contact with on a day-to-day basis.

Pros:

Square Point of Sale has been very easy to use, easy to integrate and wonderful for keeping track of day-to-day sales. Very low customer complaints, and no problems during in-person sales. Hand-held device is very convenient, easy to transport and take to different locations

Cons:

Given the NYS laws, and how/what our orders are, we are not a fan of the $0.x cent charge per order- would be much easier to just have the flat percentage. Also given the nature of our business, would be helpful to have a straight charge, not different for "card present" or not.

system outages are the real problem

Comments: i would love square if it weren't for the system-wide outages that are becoming more frequent. i'm not considering another pos system.

square is so easy to use. and it's ubiquitous.

square goes down, and we lose sales and tips, and square does not compensate its users for losses

You need Square if you’re a small business!

Comments: Overall my experience with Square Point of Sale has been easy to navigate and a great price point to use upgraded services.

Pros:

What I like most about Square Point of Sale is how easy it is to navigate for new small business owners and sends you your daily business revenue at the end of each day.

Cons:

My least favorite thing about Square Point of Sale is sometimes the card reader malfunctions and I have to manually enter customer information.

Square works really well for small businesses to start taking card payments fast.

It is easy to use and works well for small businesses, both services and retail.

Cons:

Sometimes it can be pretty glitchy. Getting various aspects of the app set up are not always intuitive. There is zero customer support, so you are very much on your own if something doesn't make sense.

Square POS has been Remarkable!

Pros:

The initial cost for Square POS hardware is relatively low compared to traditional POS systems, making it accessible for many small businesses.

Cons:

Square charges a transaction fee for each payment processed through its system, which is usually higher than other systems I've dealt with in the past.

Can't Go A Day Without Square!

Comments: Square has been a Godsend for me and I highly recommend it to any small business owner!

Pros:

I can run my business from anywhere knowing that credit and debit card payments will not slow me down.

Cons:

I don't have any complaints about Square. They even sent me my credit/debit card reader for free!

Payments made easy and painless

Comments: I really love Square, it makes running my business secure and seamless. I'm able to cross-compare my reports to ensure my bookkeeping is accurate.

Pros:

As a solo business owner, my time is so valuable. I love that I'm able to store cards on file with square and simply charge and email receipts within seconds. Making it seamless for myself and my clients.

Cons:

The fees can sometimes be on the higher side, but it's a small price to pay for secured sales.

The ease of the product is what makes using this regularly a perfect tool.

Cons:

My expectations have been met. I have not run into any issues unless there was a wifi or internet connectivity problem in the area it is being used.
