"XIA Configuration server and what it did for us"

Comments: Looked around for a product that could automate a manual process of creating configuration build documents for our servers. This fitted well adding the ability to schedule and run weekly and able to compare multiple build documents to see changes. it is easy to deploy and use and the support has been excellent. it also added the ability to document our AD, VMware and Citrix environments automatically which has enhanced our documentation of systems.

"XIA @ CADTH"

Pros: after initial setup .. the product very performs well.. and beyond expectations.

Cons: The initial setup and understanding of the operational elements were a bit confusing. With that said, it fulfilled all our requirements and continues to operate well!

"Work smarter, not harder"

Comments: With our company undergoing change, keeping up with the documentary requirements became a mamoth task.
XIA Configuration Server created documentation on our entire system in just a few short hours.
The regular scheduled reporting has proved invaluable for auditing and compliance purposes, has served our Operations people in tracking
configuration changes over a period of time. New personell can quickly come up to speed on our systems configuration with minimal interaction. Centrel Solutions Support has been first rate. Responses to my queries were timely and helpful resolving my issue in a single call. XIA Configuration Server is part of my work smarter not harder approach and I'd certainly recommend this to anyone who is looking after
IT systems.

Pros: It works, simply and easily

"XIA makes documentation easy!"

Comments: Very good. The initial setup was a little problematic (and I wouldn't rule out our environment being a contributing factor here), but once running it seems stable and reliable.
The support we have received from Centrel has been great; the team are very helpful and open to hearing suggestions on product improvement.

Pros: XIA automates the majority of documentation tasks and provides a clear, consistent means of creating and keeping details of all our systems.
Having version control was a key element for us; this allows us to determine where and when changes to the environment occur.

Cons: Although quite deep and broad in terms of legacy product coverage, there's still some maturity required in the cloud platform documentation suite. As an Azure consumer we look forward to the development and delivery of more in-depth reports for the cloud environment.

"Outstanding well thought out product, easy to use but very powerful"

Pros: The countless hours saved for administrators to generate documentation that far exceeds the quality that could be done manually. Install is very easy and easy to learn. Great for documenting all the large and small details that are essential to well managed environment.

Cons: To be honest, I have not found any negatives to the software. Design, ease of use and support all exceed expectations.

"Application upgrading was never so easy!"

Comments: After a successful upgrade of our test environment, we upgraded our production environment . The server upgrade completed without any errors.

Next we started with a controlled upgrade of some clients. This was also successful without any errors.

After that, we enabled the automatic upgrade of all the remaining clients. Within 1 hour, all our clients (80) where successfully upgraded. Application upgrading was never so easy!

Comments: XIA Configuration Server enables us to generate a comprehensive and seamless documentation of the IT infrastructure. Additionally, XIA provides lots of individually adaptable reports for various issues in an impressive quality. Thanks to CENTREL Solutions, we're now able to obtain the actual state of customers' networks and to track configuration changes effortless.

"IT/Network Documentation Tool: XIA documentation Server - MUST TO HAVE"

Comments: One of the biggest items that is almost always missing is documentation from the IT departments. Documenting the IT networks can make the troubleshooting process much more efficient when problems arise. These same network documents can also help you spot areas of your systems and networks that may need to be upgraded, giving you the possibility of earning extra revenue and making sure we adhere to industry best practices. Xia Documentation server has been savior to us as we have a very heterogeneous IT system with Microsoft, Cisco, VMWare, Citrix etc all the industry leading products and technologies and documenting all the applications, networks etc would be impossible without a product like Xia server. We are very grateful that we found this product which apart from documenting also acts like a change management system giving us the full control of what is happening in the network. I think a must tool for all the IT leaders who want to stay top of the game and i think this product is a dream come true to many IT professionals including IT Leaders, Consultants, System Administrators, Service Providers etc. Must have arsenal in the IT kit for today's complex networks and systems.

Cons: Licensing needs to be looked into as after a major upgrade Xia server requires new license keys

"XIA Configuration Server has streamlined our ability to keep up to date technical documentation."

Pros: As a Managed Service Provider it is imperative that we are able to rely on an up to date documentation repository when supporting our clients. What was a manual and labour intensive task is now streamlined and essentially keeps our documentation up to date with zero touch from us. Being agent-less is a definite plus. Without fuss, we are able to scan a prospective client's network and develop an inventory of all equipment which assists us with quotations or take on projects. Client deployment and configuration is easy and straight forward. The interface is simple and intuitive and configuration data is presented in a clear hierarchical manner.

Cons: We would like to see the ability to configure XIA to scan and document custom items. Sometimes it feels restrictive to only be able to scan for pre-defined items. It would also be a benefit to be able to edit the pre-defined items. For example, being able to add additional items to be scanned from Exchange. The level of support for scanning and documenting network devices is limited.

"Incredibly detailed infrastructure documentation for the price. Amazing diversity"

Comments: this software met probably 85-90% of my infrastructure documentation needs for about 10% of the price of competitors.

Pros: Give it the information it needs and let it go. There really wasn't much more to do after it was initially setup except review our docs periodically. I was quite impressed with the diversity of the unique agents. We are moving more and more into Azure so the Azure agent was a welcome plus.

Cons: A little finicky on getting the right settings in place initially and the browser access is very fussy about being launched as administrator. It may be me, but I would like to be able to elevate the access via IIS.

"Effortless Customizable As-built Documentation"

Comments: We have been using XIA Configuration Server for the last 4 mounts to document the servers and solutions that we've deployed at customers or just to document current state before we do upgrades. This allows us to create quality documentations that our customers are impress with. Inventorying a datacenter and documenting applications configuration, security patchs, installed applications etc., is now so easy. Customer support is excellent in answering or questions and providing solutions. Well done CENTREL Solution and thank you for a great product.
