A Modest perspective to my experience in Apify

Comments: Actually, Apify opens door for me to explore several oppotunities to come up with ideas that can be initiated and invested to deliver business user cases and may generate initiative revenue.

Pros:

Diversity and broad coverage of channels with AI capabilities.

Cons:

I wouldnt say dislike or least like, yet sometimes i feel confused to select the appropriate actor that can surve my goal. I ended up trying several actors, consuming my account before finding the proper one.

One Stop Place for scraping all sorts of Data

Comments: we have been using apify extensively at our organization for the purpose of scraping google maps, social media scraper and custom scrapers and what not.
what is the most fascinating part is rarely it fails that too because of some sort of factor.

Pros:

The level of control, robustness of the actors and the amazing team at apify ready to help and also the community based section. Also i love that the major actors we use are maintained by apify so we fully trust them to work at all times

Cons:

we discussed this with the product advocate at apify as well, currently there is a feature to queue runs when running through api, for example: if you send 300 request and you have 256gb ram allocation on apify it will limit it to obviously 256 concurrent runs assuming that each run takes up 1gig of ram, which is different for every actor; so in this case the rest of the runs 44 will not run at all they will not queue up you have to wait for the runs to finish so that you can run these separately in the next batch.

Very user-friendly, you are also able to write your own scrapers and publish them with the Apify CLI, which is simple.

I love using Apify!

Comments: It is very easy and flexible. You can scrape almost every website and get the data in your desired format.

Pros:

It's super simple to use. The UX is awesome. I never felt like I did not no what to do.

Comments: Overall, my experience has been very positive.

Pros:

- Trial period with credits to test a few APIs and integrations. The limit was high enough for me to get a good idea of the APIs I want to use and find one that works well for me. - Direct communication with the developers. I had a small issue which was resolved immediately. I also made a suggestion for one more data point to be extracted. It was added in no time, which was fantastic. - Support and Apify tour - the chance to talk to somebody from the team about the platform and for them to recommend sections and features based on your needs and use case. I had a session with Cait. She was brilliant, answered all my questions and suggested functionalities that I hadn't discovered but will definitely make use of going forward. - Swift approval of my application for student discount. Took 2 minutes to get an approval after my application.

Cons:

Can't say that I have anything negative to say do far. If I need to add one, that would be price. I have no direct comparison as I have not tested any alternatives. And since I have no time to search for alternative solutions (dissertation deadline fast approaching) and I am happy with this one so far - I will go with it. During my Apify tour, Cait did suggest that students can apply for Student discount. I wish I had known / applied for it before I had moved on to Starter plan. As a student, I am paying for everything by myself and I can already say that I will need to spend $200+ to get the data that I need.

Comments: Apify's developer community is very helpful, friendly you can raise your voice their and people are ready to help.

Pros:

Ease with which I can develop new APIs and start earning from those.

Cons:

Their developer analytics is not at all good, no clear analytics about the costs and its usage.

Comments: I have been satisfied with my level of progress since using this software as i can easily get any data needed at any given time. Extraction of high volume of data has been made easy to do with this platform.

Pros:

Easy to use with a user friendly interface. I can easily get any sort of data using this software as extraction of huge volume of data from different sources could be done easily with this powerful tool so i can easily get the data i need at any time when needed.

Cons:

A reduction in the price will be appreciated to enable more access. Apart from this no cons.

Great tool for beginners like me

Pros:

Loads of good APIs are ready for use so it is easy to set up and get running without having to be a super engineer.

Cons:

I'd like to have a space so I could post a specific need so other users could craft an API just for that.

Proxy Nightmares no more, data extraction with the click of a button.

Pros:

My favorite part about apify is the proxy management and rotation. Traditionally this is a nightmare for me and I love the completely managed proxy rotation and management.

Cons:

The pricing is a little bit high. I wish that I could access the pay as you go pricing of actors/proxies without having to pay for a $50/month subscription.

Comments: I like working with Apify very much, it provides a real benefits for my work (AI & Knowledge Bases). And it you used it wisely and not too data-greedy, then it can be even free of charge.

Pros:

That it makes scraping websites for knowledge data very easy. It provides structured files that can be easily used for RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) AI applications. It's a perfect match.

Cons:

Some of the so called "actors" that encapsualte the functionality of automatic scraping of social media platforms (for example LinkedIn or Twitter) are sometimes not working reliably. Also some of the paid actors are really very expensive. These should be better curated by the platform owners to ensure everything that is offered is working as advertised.
