Learn more about LEAP

Pros:

LEAP is excellent for automating documents so that you don't have to waste time typing in generic information that is in all your documents and letters.

Cons:

The integration was a pain, but it was on my side with Time Matters and my computer company. That was a me and not you thing.

I love LEAP!

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: LOVE, LOVE, LOVE LEAP. I just wish everyone would use it properly.

Pros:

I don't know how we ever managed without LEAP. It is user friendly, has a wealth of features and makes my working life that much easier.

Cons:

It would be handy to log commission structures for consultants on each matter for example but this is not a deal breaker.

Integration of Case Management & Practice Management in an Exceptional product.

5.0 last year

Comments: Given the fact that I did not have a strong background in practice and case management, the support for LEAP and the built in features that bolster communication, accuracy and financial management has been priceless in getting me quickly up to speed.
LEAP's evolving platform continues to give us deep confidence in our data integrity, financial management, case management and overall communication within the organization and our clients.

Pros:

My favorite feature in LEAP is the ability to manage trust accounts with accuracy and complete compliance with IOLTA standards. The integration with Quickbooks has eliminated the need for duplicate entries which increases accuracy and guarantees the integrity of the data. Also, LEAP's numerous features that facilitate communication (notes, e-mail tracking, phone logs, calendar) allow for any user to access the program and be able to get a real-time status of the matter. LEAP's support system is another favorite feature. I can chat with support, open a case, schedule support or research through LEAP University and the Community pages.

Cons:

Occasional failures in bulk printing and contact management can be frustrating.

Be careful if you are a sole practitioner

1.0 8 months ago

Comments: It was the worst experience ever. I was misrepresented certain information. I purchased the software, had to pay additional £500 for an external trainer. As I am not IT literate I had to re learn windows and being an apple user it took me from May when I purchase the software to August. I was told to use their university section to learn additional features. I spent thousands on IT equipment. I did not read my contract and I was tied in for 3 yrs, at the end of the first year I tried to get out of the contract, I explained to LEAP about the problems throughout the period. I am a sole practitioner handling private client wills probate and estate planning and I rarely used the software, it was a waste of money. I would recommend Clico for case management and lexis for legal forms, LEAP forms are too much so you have to cut and paste. If you want to do bundle you pay additional £35 per bundle. To get access to certain drafting forms you have to purchase it separately. I have submitted an appeal to come out of my contract because of the misrepresentation and I told legal advice and was told the software was not fit for purpose. I wrote to leap in May 12 about renewing the package to allow case management and to reduce my cost. We are in the end of July. I had no response, I am locked out of the system, my client files I cannot have access. Now I have to take legal actions against Leap. I strongly advice anyone looking for a case management software to look elsewhere. Avoid LEAP.

Pros:

The system is better for large firms with IT specialist.

Cons:

Waste of money if you a a small firm or sole practitioner. Have to reinvest in a system that is compatible with the software, costing additional 2k External trainer rubbish as you have to book time and it’s rushed if you do not know windows. You have to purchase top ons. That is more costly so your package could run into the thousand. Read the contract and if not happy make sure you cancel. Once your subscription finish you will not have the availability to gain access to your client files. If you are tied in and try to negotiate you will be ignored and you have no resolution BECAREFUL BEFORE YOU SIGN THIER CONTRACT.

Leap is not good for Probate.

1.0 2 months ago

Comments: The system is not recommended for a probate department. I been practising over 20 years and know what works if you want happy clients and staff.

Pros:

The staff have tried to understand the issues we have and have promised to listen to all our feedback.

Cons:

Once upon a time I could do my job far quicker and with great confidence using a system where I could access asset and liability lists - create estate accounts with ease. Download forms etc but with Leap it’s more reliable to go on google or get the books out. I feel as if I have gone back to the 90s or earlier the probate system is appalling. My team have had to manually do a lot of the work we used to do on a brilliant computer system called ALB. Those were the days. Leap is supposed to be good for conveyancers and our property team is happy but sadly it is the opposite for us probate practitioners.

The most frustrating service ever

1.0 2 years ago

Comments: I have lost a lot of money and clients due to using Leap. You cannot get quick answers there are no phone numbers to call. You only ever get “we’ll call you back” if you miss that call you have to wait for them to try again. I was sold this system because they are supposedly connected and integrated with 3rd parties that could handle my billing and auto chasing for payments, Handle my e-signatures, handle my calendar bookings. 100% of my small law firm relies on these features. None of this was true and LEAP only blames the third parties when things don’t work. I cannot speak any worse of this service. Joining them was the biggest busienss mistake I’ve ever made and I’ve pissed off so many clients with utterly frustrating software that both myself and the clients have tried to use from our respective ends.

Pros:

I would have left earlier if it wasn’t for the personal client relationship manager [SENSITIVE CONTENT] - he has been good

Cons:

Billing No telephone serviceWeb chat difficultBilling difficult - auto reminders didn’t work after 1.5 years of asking for helpCalendar booking system didn’t workE- signatures didn’t work and very difficult for clientsTraining was via third party who didn’t answer my questions Autofields for drafting precedents were not easy to use.

Good product terrible support and aggressive pricing

3.0 12 months ago

Comments: Poor.
LEAP has developed a good product, but it has not committed the resources required to support it, so if a technical issue does arise the time to resolve is significant.
Practice Consultants are promoted by LEAP, but in reality, only promote additional add on products.

Pros:

The product is mature and provides a complete law practice package including document storage, time reading, billing, trust accounting and matter management. Remote access is available and there are nice mobile app features available.

Cons:

Alot of functionality is heavily promoted in LEAP marketing materials but requires additional premium third-party licenses. LEAP has a rigid pricing structure. There are no categories for admin staff vs fee earners etc. This means you must purchase a full license including precedent subscription for every staff member including casual and part-time staff. Technical support has declined dramatically in the past 6 months. We have waited over a week to have a support ticket acknowledged. Matter remains unresolved two weeks later. There is no transparent ticketing system for technical error. You are pushing onto the online chat which currently has wait times over an hour and the end result is to lodge a support ticket. Implementation was poorly handled with poor communication.

Not all it seems

1.0 5 months ago

Comments: The sales team do a very good job in convincing that this is the system for you. Don't buy into it. They actually outsource the initial training (you must pay this upfront), and it leaves a little to be desired. Very little is actually shown. It should be tailored for each user/business not generic training bearing little use to my business. Integrations are limited. Price wise, it's competitive even on the cheaper side compared to rivals.

Pros:

Let's be honest, LEAP is aimed mid to large sized businesses. It doesn't really cater for us smaller players in the market. With this in mind, it's primary aim is case management and deployment/delegation to others. It offers many features and add-ons from outside apps but very few were ones I was already existing.

Cons:

LEAP's software is difficult to manage, not very intuitive. Cumbersome for a so-called leading software provider. 8 months in, there are many features I do not use/nor require. Integration with other apps such as Willsuite has been a frustrating experience to say the least with many issues still unresolved. Sadly, LEAP's customer service is woeful. No helpline, they just direct you to self-help videos or request you to email support. It can take days for them to respond, a complete joke when you have work and clients waiting for vital documents.

Dont try to exit early

3.0 10 months ago

Comments: Terrible. Never again - will tell all my colleagues to try a different product.

Pros:

Trust accounting is solid and reliable and support was good.

Cons:

The contract is terrible. You cant exit early even if you ask nicely. They will not let you out and WILL chase you and WILL send a collection agency after you and threaten to damage your credit rating. Its also very very expensive to get your data in a usable form when you leave.

Leap overview

2.0 last year

Comments: It's a good software if there's no alternative. Very expensive. Poor customer service overall.

Pros:

Client account and month end reports. These provide an excellent tools for management to keep on top of Month End reporting and reconciliation reports. I also liked that you can send an email from within the software and it will open up and send from outlook.

Cons:

Task management and time recording. Also customer service is poor as help is not readily available. When the software first took over LOLA, there was good customer service support but slowly that diminished.

Formerly TurboLaw Billing Software

4.0 6 years ago

Comments: I have a negative attitude towards Leap in general because they interfered with the "good thing" I had with TurboLaw. I had several long telephone calls with Leap representatives to review all the functions that Leap has to offer, and I found that it was always much more than I was looking for in software for my small firm. I was very disappointed when Leap purchased TurboLaw and drastically increased the price without any grandfathering for existing TurboLaw customers.

Pros:

I really liked this billing system. I found that it was not overly complicated to use, and it had all the functionality I needed (plus some additional functions that I could have used, but didn't venture into). The billing software was previously TurboLaw before Leap purchased it, and the price was very reasonable for the product provided - reasonable monthly fee for relatively simple software base.

Cons:

When Leap purchased TurboLaw they more than tripled the monthly fee after just a few months. At that point, I went searching for a new billing system because it was too expensive for my small firm, and in my opinion, too expensive for what it had to offer. As a solo practitioner, I did not need anything fancy or expansive, and unfortunately Leap took this option away from me when they purchased TurboLaw.

This product has made working from home possible.

5.0 4 years ago

Pros:

This software manages my practice for billing, filing, document preparation and scheduling. It is easy to use and worth every penny. There are a number of tie in programs that work well with LEAP, like website management, appointment scheduling, and court filing, which make LEAP the only system I need to run my practice. Having it all accessible on my phone is a major bonus.

Cons:

Discounting billing is a bit counter-intuitive.

Great potential, unfortunately customer service and support lets it down

3.0 last year

Comments: We were really excited to get started with LEAP. Unfortunately we had issues from the off, particularly I could not print from LEAP (whenever I would log into LEAP it would disable my printers, but when I would come out of LEAP, I could print fine). Their support wasn't the most accessible, we would have to wait for them to call us and if we were unable to take the call (if we were on appointments or they called outside of working hours) we would have to wait for a return call. Their first and second line support teams were both unable to assist with this issue, despite spending hours looking into it. My colleague had several different issues and none of them were solved either. We were left very disappointed with the whole experience and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I have worked with many CM systems in the past including Proclaim, VisualFiles and Solcase so I know all have their issues, especially when first implementing, but this was beyond any teething issues I have ever experienced! We were left very disappointed with the whole experience and wouldn't recommend LEAP to anyone unfortunately.

Pros:

Good precedent library, fairly easy to use.

Cons:

Lack of support from LEAP. No solutions to issues we had.

Leap is great but very expensive

4.0 2 years ago

Pros:

I liked Leap as it did a great job and everything that was needed. The UCPR forms and templates they have were very handy.

Cons:

It was very expensive, from memory over $600/month/user, and locked in on a 3 year contract too. Very restrictive, which is why we moved.

Better than competition but still a work in progress

4.0 4 years ago

Comments: Overall it has been relatively easy to learn. There are many aspects that I do not use on a daily basis and so I am not able to remember how to use them or where to find the tools to use them. I think that based upon all of the different legal management softwares I have used over the years, this one is by far the best of the bunch, but your promise of automation of forms, especially new forms is very slow and needs quite a bit of improvement. I like your chat help, they are actual humans and have always been helpful.

Pros:

I like that everything is organized in the program and I have one place to find everything. I also like how easy it is to input my time.

Cons:

I have issues with saving addresses into cards. There is a notes line that covers the "Save" button and it does not work. I have to do a workaround. I am constantly getting error messages about an LEAP Schema, even when I restart the computer and reinstalling has not helped. I do not like that I cannot find the subfolders in a matter where a document is located when I do a search. I do not like that I cannot change how the matters list documents - for a long time it was by date. Now in the last month or so it is alphabetical. I want to be able to customize this. I also don't like the billing - I try to generate a bill for my own time as I am of counsel. I cannot create a bill that has the matter number (and/or name) activity and HOURS spent. I only get the money piece. I have to use a staff/time activity and customize the document in Excel which is time consuming and clunky. I do not like that it takes so long for you to automate forms (such as the new NY POA and Medicaid documents) as this is the cornerstone of your sales pitch

LEAP is worth a the LEAP of Faith if you are looking for a new case management software.

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: It has been easy to implement and generally easy for everyone to adopt and use. I would recommend that if you are looking for a cloud based case management system for Lawyers that you give LEAP a call for a demonstration.

Pros:

We like the ease with which LEAP integrates with Microsoft products and the fact it was cloud based, which did come into its own over the past 18 months with staff moving to work from home. Time recording can be easily done when reviewing/typing up emails. Flexibility to set up precedents that work for your own practice or there are LEAP precedents that can be used as well. Using LawConnect, makes it straightforward to share documents with others securely. The team are constantly looking a developing the software to make improvements to the software. The integration with many APPs can bring more efficiencies. A good selection of reports that can be run to extract vital information for running your business. The integration with Xero accounting for the practice's own accounting is very good.

Cons:

There has been work required to ensure the product can meet the accounts rules for Scotland and further developments are in progress with an imminent release which should make this easier . The online chat is great to get a quick answer but if you have a technical query, you have to wait for a call back and this can be frustrating as you may not be available when they call back. It would be better if an appointment system could be created so you know when to expect a call, even if 1/2 or hour windows. It is on the higher scale for cost but if you use the system as it is designed to be used, which may involve you changing your processes, efficiencies can be achieved, which goes towards offsetting the cost of the product.

The best decision I ever made for our firm was to select LEAP.

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: We are forever marvelling at how complete the LEAP case management system is. The expression I find myself using for LEAP is "alive" - the product itself and the personnel are energetic and responsive, always growing and improving. It can be unnerving to rely so heavily on just one system yet I feel that our firm is in safe hands with LEAP.

Pros:

LEAP manages to be complete and complex beneath the surface but appears to be so simple and clear on-screen. If one thinks that there is something that can't be done on LEAP, a simple chat with the helpdesk usually reveals that the facility required has been there all along and is easy to access (once you know how). The support is always fast and effective as well as pleasant and friendly. I also like the fact that LEAP are open to suggestion and discussion with the community about changes or additions to their software. It doesn't feel like a "like it or lump it" product. LEAP also introduced us to some other companies whose services integrate fully with LEAP and make processes seamless, thus saving precious time.

Cons:

We hadn't used a dedicated case management system before so, initially, we found it difficult to get used to a whole new concept and there was a temptation to cheat and revert to our old processes. It took a while for us to overcome our fears of the unknown and to become accustomed to a new way of thinking. This was our failing, not LEAP's, but as complete rookies we could probably have done with a little more hand-holding. The early days were hard without a doubt but that is true of most dramatic changes. The benefits of having LEAP far outweigh that tough initial learning curve.

Leap to Leap

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: Leap has made running my practice a lot more enjoyable and efficient. I finally have technology that actually matches my requirements. I run a paperless office and rely heavily on my precedent documents - Leap supports my work in every aspect

Pros:

Most important was The complete integration with Microsoft 365. excellent time recording function - (need to add facility to add a time entry to a pdf which has been imported into Leap)

Cons:

Using template documents and creating template matters is not very intuitive - of course this is a complicated function but it could be made easier/clearer. Main page menu structure is not easy to navigate. in particular accounting information - it seems fragmented. some bits here others in different places. have found excel documents are not always saved up to date which is concerning.

Comments: Timekeeping is a huge benefit, along with keeping things organized.

Pros:

LEAP allows me as a solo practitioner to do a lot of things well and efficiently. The document production software is excellent and I can use the mobile app to keep things moving even when I'm not in the office.

Cons:

The mobile app does need better integration with the main product so it can be more useful. For example, being able to generate a new document would be very helpful from your phone. The RapidPay system also needs a revamp as well.

LEAP is a feature-rich practice management solution

5.0 4 years ago

Pros:

What we like most about LEAP are the features that allow us to manage all of our cases, clients, and documents in one solution and we can access all of it from anywhere (i.e., in-office computer, smartphone, tablet, a web browser). LEAP has built-in integration with the software programs we use most (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PDF) and offers robust template creation and implementation capabilities, secure file sharing, and full-featured timesheets, billing/invoicing, and accounting functionality.

Cons:

There is no phone number for product support. Product support is done via a support ticket system, chat, or email. It would be helpful to be able to call support to get a quick answer to an issue that may be difficult to explain by chat/email.

Disappointing

1.0 4 years ago

Comments: Disappointing software. Deceptive sales practices. See above.

Pros:

The software has potential. What it is trying to do is good.

Cons:

The software slowed down my system. It did not integrate well with MS Outlook, MS Word, and Adobe Acrobat. It had multiple glitches, and the LEAP software deactivated features I used in MS Office and Adobe. The sales representative gave me the impression I could try the software and cancel at anytime if I was dissatisfied, but this turned out to be false. After hours spent trying to use the product, and several hours of customer support calls over several weeks, the software could not perform better than the simple system I had created for myself using MS Office and Adobe. I am a tech-savvy person, and LEAP customer service often told me they were learning things from me and that they were working on adding the features that I needed. Even after spending several weeks getting LEAP up and running and speaking with customer service, LEAP still had multiple technical glitches and was causing me to spend more time rather than less time. Therefore, I asked to cancel LEAP. To my surprise, LEAP told me I was locked into a 3-year agreement. LEAP refuses to cancel the agreement before 3 years are completed and is requiring monthly payments despite my multiple requests to cancel it. Upon closer examination, I discovered the LEAP contract has several hidden terms, and the sales representative actively deceives you into thinking the contract says something different from what it actually says.
