It's a one stop shop for all things school related. I love the ability to look at lunch calendars, school calendars and my child's progress report all in one software program. I like that I can use it on my desktop computer as well as the app on my phone. > > **Cons**: The mobile version via the app can be a little cluttered. This may be more of an admin issue with too much content rather a software program issue but there is a lot of scrolling that needs to happen to get to much of the content on some of the pages. The school is constantly having to be in contact with the support department - for hours\!\! There is either too much to choose from for viewing or not enough. All of the available links to view your information (as a parent) are listed down the left side so you have to scroll and scroll and scroll and search for what you want. All the text is in the same font - the teachers cannot make their information visually appealing and easy to read - not graphic at all. Contrast to a regular blog etc. - as a parent, I like to browse the info from other teachers in our school once in a while. See what else is going on etc. In order to see anything not directly related to your child, the school has to give you specific access to it. - Example: So if I have a 4th grader and I want to peruse the 4th grade expectations, homework, content periodically, I can't unless my school gives me access. I have gone to OTHER SCHOOL blogs to browse this information. We used to just have a blog - you could read about anything in the school. Pros- Maybe it is easier for the teachers to enter information???? ----- ### "Worst program out there\! There are no fail safes in this program as stated the program is like the 90s except that no one has the floppy disk to store it on. In one case, I accidentally wiped all of my grades because my mouse hit clear standards. NO ARE YOU SURE? Second, there is no consistency on the pages. One page will let you edit another won't. One page may let you "view all" while you can't on another. If you are working in term 1 and it's close to term 2 then without warning you will be redirected to term 2 and all your grades are in the wrong place. As a teacher, I want to see my grade book first and other things like parent communications or progress reports lower, but there is no way to organize or request ease of use. It's very possibly the worst program to exist today. In fact, after thinking that I asked a computer science expert to look at it and was told it looked like a below average highschool commuter class project. Our school has almost no sense of community. Parents used to be able to sign up to help with fundraisers on the first day of school. It was a time to reconnect with people you had not seen all summer and meet new families. Now, you sign up online. No contact with anyone, no chance to ask others about the fundraisers, no human contact. This site is great for the lazy administrators who cannot bother to print the information out and pass it out, but for those who are looking for a community, SchoolSpeak effectively kills it. I have been to our parent club meetings and since the school got SchoolSpeak attendance for fundraisers is down and they are having trouble getting volunteers.
