This is not Windows 2012 Server, it's R Server...
Comments: Fascinating product and interesting language. Highly recommended for developers.
The new platform is called Microsoft R Server, and is compatible with Windows, Linux, Hadoop and Teradata software.
There are five servers:
Microsoft R Server for Hadoop on Red Hat
Microsoft R Server for Teradata DB
Microsoft R Server for Red Hat Linux
Microsoft R Server for SuSE Linux
RRE for Windows
If you are familiar with Microsoft products you need more than that to deploy this Analytics solution. You need to have a big percentage of your infrastructure with Microsoft products to make the most of this product.
For those who want to deploy this, Microsoft delivered a free version of R Server for developers. This might be the future for developers and System Analysts. Be prepared.
Cons: Open R is free... Microsoft R Server is not. However, the connection between R Server and Microsoft family will make this more appealing.

The best R Server for Windows Server
Comments: We're using MS OpenR since version 3.3 and no concerns and worries about to change it to CRAN R. Good software with MS support.
1. Optimization for Windows Server
2. Optimization for Intel MKL
3. MRAN copy
4. Support with Visual Studio using R plugins. No differences between OpenR and MS OpenR. If you have a Windows Server and you needs in R, use MS OpenR. This is really optimized to work as services, allow to agile control it and have a lot of integration with all Windows Server capabilities.
- Possibility to be a proprientary licensed.
- Premium support pretty costly.
Otherwise, it's great product, that using all capabilities of CRAN R

Cons: Microsoft systems are constantly detected security vulnerabilities, so every month to close these gaps need to be patched. It is good in terms of tightening security, but it is tiring operationally.

Easy to embed in architecture
Pros: Our college students use Microsoft R Server to create analytic programs. The platform can be easily integrated into the existing architecture, since the R language is used as an addition to the main language (usually C ++).
Cons: The R language appeared not so long ago, so almost nothing is known about it. Few people know how to work with him. Because of this, our students have to learn from their own mistakes.

Pros: Microsoft is probably the only developer who has made a decent platform for other developers. It’s especially convenient to work in conjunction with Microsoft R Server + Azure, because then you can run R-scripts on Spark.
Cons: I did not manage to deploy work on Data Science VM. I wrote to the support service about this, but they said that there was no problem with R Server. Nevertheless, I did not succeed in expanding the work.

Pros: I love this folder. This folder allows our offices to work together by being able to find shared files easily. You are able to create folders to separate and organize, just like any Microsoft program.
Cons: The only difficulty I have had with this software is the ease of use when using other software with it. Not entirely R drives fault.

Cons: Not so easy to start learning
