On the volunteer/user end it can be a little unclear on how to use.

Excellent customer service
Pros:
I know if I fill out a ticket, I will be responded to very quickly. I work with [sensitive content hidden] mostly, and he's always helpful. He understands I'm not a tech person at all, and he's patient and kind.
Cons:
It's difficult for me to learn new tech, and I think most of my problems stem from that, not the funtionality of the product.

Excellent Volunteer Management System
Comments: I am using VolunteerLocal as part of a larger organization with multiple components all using VolunteerLocal. [sensitive content hidden] in Customer Support is outstanding. The design of this program is amazingly thorough. Highly recommended.

Easy to Use
Comments: I find it fairly easy to use. I wish I had more time to delve into all the extra features it offers because I'd probably be amore efficient user. I appreciate the customer service aspect of it the most.
Pros:
The scheduling is easy to set up, making adjustments to existing factions if use is easy to do. My customer service rep is on the ball, thanks [sensitive content hidden]! He will always try to squeeze in my problems for solution in an immediate manner and that is probably my favorite part of this program.
Cons:
I wish the YouTube channel were updated more frequently, I do like using that as a resource, but when the interface changes and the tutorial doesn't reflect that change, it can be confusing.
Using Volunteer Local
Comments: It's been 10/10. I've been the only employee using is at this time. We implemented it with our staff, then our regular volunteers then all volunteer. It was a seamless process.
Pros:
The customer service has been amazing. As we've started with this new system, we've had so many questions. They're easy to get ahold of. Easy to video chat with or email or even call. They're always available. Also out biggest need these 12 years, has been the ability for volunteers to sign up on their own, online. But we had many ideas of what we wanted in a product and volunteer local has truly met all our needs.
Cons:
They're not compatible with our CRM at this time.

How easy it was to use and how it helped us better manage volunteer groups and communication.
Cons:
Having to go through each email draft in order to see the one I was looking for was a bit frustrating. It would be nice if you could search the title rather than scroll through each one to look for it.

It is fairly simple and intuitive to use as an administrator. Their customer support is excellent and walks us through any questions we have and responds very quickly

Comments: The customer service I have received from their team has been the best I have ever experienced from a volunteer management site. Everyone I have spoken to has been kind and made every interaction great. Not only are they kind and personable, but they respond in a timely manner.
Pros:
We have been on the lookout for a volunteer management software or site that allows to closely manage time and has an easy volunteer check-in AND check-out feature and this site has met our needs and the process has been very easy for admins and volunteers to use.
Cons:
I have not found a dislike yet for how we use the site.

HTML coding needed for certain functions, at times can feel underdeveloped in functionality

Pros:
User friendly. Excellent training videos are available to use at any time. Knowledgeable and helpful staff who handle training and follow-up very well. They answer questions and " please help me calls" the fastest I have ever experienced. Most valuable to keep on working in the area I needed help. The ability to populate a current event from a previous event is valuable. Archived volunteer information is always avaiable.
Cons:
I can't think of any. Everything I need is taken care of with their software and follow up

Comments: My main area of concern in choosing a new platform was communication and background screens. VolunteerLocal completely simplified communication to the thousands of volunteers we have by allowing us to schedule emails and creating templates to have. With background screens, I wanted a platform that allowed volunteers to complete a background screen without having to send additional seperate links and an easy way to keep track of background screens. VolunteerLocal allowed that to happen and even made updates, so I was able to see who completed a background screen / who still needed one instead of having to go into each volunteer profile.
Pros:
VolunteerLocal is extremely easy to use. When it came to building out events and scheduling, it was very straightforward. The best part is being able to add in PDF documents within shifts to help minimize distribution of paper and be able to send all necessary information through VolunteerLocal. Also, the integration with background screens and communication templates made it so much easier to track and communicate with volunteers.
Cons:
One of the areas I would like to see updated would be the mobile app. I think it does do it's purpose but could have some upgrades to the looks of it.

Pros:
If you need help, you'll deal with your rep or directly with the developer/owner—a unicorn who speaks "tech" and "regular person." He gets what you're saying and knows how to explain it back to you (in plain English). The company could not be more accommodating, understanding, and vested in your success.

Comments: Could not possibly run the event without volunteerlocal. From scheduling the jobs and shifts to communiating with the captains and volunteers.
Pros:
The ability to track volunteers. The ability to communicate to volunteers.
Cons:
Reports. Would like to be able to customize reports. (i.e., select just volunteers that are going to stay overnight at the church we are offering). Report writing could be more user friendly instead of downloading all volunteers and sorting by category.
Great Tool for Volunteer Recruitment and Management
Comments: I have enjoyed using the software to manage almost 2000 volunteers for my race. I learn more about it each time I use it and the company is very responsive and gracious even when the issues I bring up are almost always my fault!
Pros:
I love how robust the software is for signing up new volunteers and also keeping them informed of their jobs and shifts with the communication tab. Ease of use for volunteers to sign in and make changes or additions to their volunteer shift.
Cons:
The layout/design is a bit dated with regards to how it looks, but the functionality of it is very good.

Comments: We have been utilizing VolunteerLocal for a handful of years now and it continually meets our needs. We have several individuals within our office that can hop on and create a new volunteer page as needed. Easy to teach others and manage!
Pros:
This product is an easy to use system that can have anyone managing volunteers in no time! Page set up, customizable questions, reports, exports - you name it; VolunteerLocal has a way to do it.
Cons:
We utilize this for almost all of our events and it is quite easy to use. It's a pretty basic system and has everyone one could need, but sometimes feels like it could be a little clunky.
Easy to learn volunteer management program
Pros:
The program is not excessively complicated, like one of its close competitors. I was able to set up volunteer scheduling and start implementing the program in about 3 weeks.
Cons:
It's less intuitive than I would like. I feel the support library could be more robust. But the support team is excellent and very responsive.

Exceptional Customer Service means client success
Comments: I have said many times (and will continue to say!) that the people at VolunteerLocal are amazing! Changes and developments take time because coding is detailed work, but I know the team hears and cares about the roadblocks I have, and they take pride in removing them. They also strive to think of new features that will improve the client experience. As the administrator, I see myself as the person who bridges the gap between volunteers who believe in our mission and the opportunities for them to serve, trying to minimize that gap along the way. But I am also the person who bridges the gap between our staff and all of the information held in the database; they need to be able to seamlessly interact with the information whether I am in the office or not, and they need to be able to see the value each volunteer brings. I have confidence that VolunteerLocal can help me be that bridge.
Pros:
Initially, the selling point for VolunteerLocal was the fact that volunteers can manage so much by themselves. Being able to submit an application online, to sign up for/cancel shifts by themselves, and see all of our available opportunities on one landing page was a big factor. But as we use it longer and offer more types of opportunities, I have come to appreciate the commitment to help us solve problems and improve the interface for all parties--all because the client's happiness is such a high goal for each VolunteerLocal staff person. Whether I need help understanding how to set up an event for our particular needs, making updates to the data we're collecting, or dreaming of how the database can better serve us, I know the staff is in my corner.
Cons:
Because we use our data differently than many, I have struggled the most in interacting with older data. Once events are archived, I cannot see that information in volunteer profiles (though I can see much of what I need to know from the search screen). If it wouldn't make the dashboard so cluttered, I would be tempted to leave events active permanently. Additionally, since many of our volunteers come to us in order to fulfill community service hours, it would be great for them to be able to see what they've done somehow.
Wouldn't use any other software!
Comments: After using other volunteer registration platforms, VolunteerLocal has saved me several hours of time as it provides all of the features that I need and it's easy to maneuver. I have used other platforms that were not user friendly which cost me a lot of extra time in preparing statistics, reports, etc. which had to be done manually. Being able to send email and text communications directly from VolunteerLocal (and being able to choose specific recipients) was a huge time saver. VolunteerLocal also allowed for me to invite team captains to have limited access to their volunteer jobs on VolunteerLocal so they could remain updated with their volunteer recruitment, whereas, other platforms I would have to do on a regular basis because they didn't allow for outside user access.
Pros:
This software is very user friendly and easy to maneuver around to the different features, especially for someone like me who is not extremely savvy with technology. It provides all of the features that I need for volunteer recruitment for our annual race.
Cons:
I have used other platforms for volunteer recruitment, and to be honest, there was nothing that I didn't like about VolunteerLocal. It provided everything that I needed, whereas other products didn't have all of the features that I needed, which meant I had to do a lot of my recruitment manually.
VolunteerLocal meets all our needs
Comments: We manage over a thousand volunteers during a 3-day event, recruiting them in the 3 months prior each year. With the help of this software, one volunteer coordinator is able to handle all the needs of our volunteers on a part-time basis. The VolunteerLocal team has always been able to help me get they system set up for the next year quickly and easily. They have resolved any issues I've raised within a day or so. I couldn't ask for better service.
Pros:
I like the flexibility of this software to handle unlimited volunteers in many different jobs and shifts. I also like that we can communicate directly with specific groups of volunteers - eg all those in a particular shift or job, and download lists of volunteers for almost any purpose. I also love that each year, we can copy over everything we set up for the previous year, which makes it very quick to get going. I appreciate that the sales and service is handled by just a few key staff who understand the product very well, so I can build a relationship with them and get quick answers to my questions.
Cons:
We've been using this software for a few years now, and most of the issues we came across were fixed quickly. The only ongoing issue has been an inconsistency of fonts and sizes of text on the integrated part of our website and in some outgoing emails, and VolunteerLocal has fixed those as needed.
