Cons:

You're basically trapped when you buy in...if you don't pay, which we haven't for almost a year, then decide to break down and do it, it only back pays.

Best Software for Dermatology

5.0 6 years ago

Pros:

Nextech is well written and customizable for each provider. Very simple for new staff to pick up when training.

Cons:

Dislike the software backup methodology. Could be more streamlined so it takes less time and in addition, you'll need a device to backup a so-called workstation backup (I use a NAS) and the server backup backs up to a folder on the server so you'll need to think about space requirements when engineering a solution. In addition to the built in solution to the software I also backup the entire server using a thrid-party imaging solution.

EHR and PM

5.0 last year

Comments: Overall I am satisfied with everything despite above mentioned issues as the good definitely outweighs the bad

Pros:

Product was easy to use. The integration process was slightly difficult but made easier by guidance from all the wonderful Nextech employees

Cons:

When the PM and EHR side merged it changes things on the EHR side that I was not prepared for, such as losing my patient merge button. Also it was not explained that our last used number in prior PM and ours was abnormally high so now our chart numbers have 9 digits which is not great. The mapping portion of integration should be explained better, I did have a lot of issues with this part and am currently still having problems with the import

Shannon, we are glad to hear you are finding our software easy to use. Unfortunately, the implementation did not meet your expectations. We've had a lot of success in the past with the speed and simplicity of our implementation approach, and we strive to meet the unique needs of all of our clients. Please contact your Nextech representative, visit the Community Portal, or call Client Support at 866-654-4396 so that we can further address your problems.

Expensive fees to keep software service and updates yearly.

1.0 7 years ago

Comments: Basic scheduling needs and some reporting.

Pros:

Scheduling is easy, drop down menus can be personalized. Maintaining providers schedules is simple.

Cons:

One glitch that is frustrating is name changes. Once a patient is in the system, you can't change their name or the system deletes their file data. Photos, op reports, everything. It's a frustrating process b/c to make any new documentation legally correct, you have to go in by hand an change every where it's written, which on surgical consents can be almost 20 times. Then anything automated that goes out still has their wrong name. For divorced patients this is a frustrating reminder. Most importantly though is the yearly fee. Once you purchase this software, you then have to continue purchasing it every year or it doesn't work properly (no updates) and you have no support from Nextech if something goes wrong. I wasn't here when it was purchased, but our physician emphatically denies every knowing this was going to be the case when he made the initial buy in. We pay thousands a year for this system, but switching seems very daunting and they know that. You're basically trapped when you buy in...if you don't pay, which we haven't for almost a year, then decide to break down and do it, it only back pays. Say you miss a year, you will have to pay for the year of service you DIDN'T get and then another year to get up to date. It's a huge rip off.

Nextech should be web browser based

Pros:

There are a lot of features that are nice

Cons:

The software should be accessible via web browser. There should also be an Android mobile app for both patients and providers.

The Review

Pros:

easy to use and move around, integration with DermPro and touchmd.

Cons:

I was not here but integration was not done well which caused to use the systems incorrectly. We have a lot of clean up still to do. It can be challenging to learn all of the features and know if we are using the system in the best way possible. Directional videos of common functions and how they effects other areas would be amazing!

Overall great product

4.0 2 years ago

Comments: We've been using the PM system for 22 years and the EMR system for 9 years, we are very satisfied

Pros:

The ease of use, everything it has to offer, and the fact they are always pushing out new features. The support is wonderful also.

Cons:

Wish we could offer online scheduling without having to use a 3rd party vendor. Also wish the text reminder feature offered more.

Ease of Use of Nextech

4.0 last year

Pros:

Ease of use. Very intuitive. Nextech support has been great and very responsive. I love the integrations with other services, Nextpatient-for example. I am constantly needing to learn more about what the product offers because many features are not used in our practice to the capacity from which we can benefit.

Cons:

mobile app for provider could be developed more.

Nextech is a very robust combined PM/EMR solution. Our practice has 4 locations and we do a variety of services, and Nextech is able to handle 95% of what we need. The practitioners like iPad app for charting.

4.0 7 years ago

Comments: The Nextech team is continually working on improvements and upgrades, and the community portal allows all of us to request new enhancements and also to vote on enhancements for the next release.

Pros:

We have a complicated scheduling process, and Nextech's scheduling tool is able to handle it with booking rules and schedule template.

Cons:

Nextech does not support automatic monthly payments. This requires us to have staff manually process membership payments every day. The support for Nextech is good in that you always get a person, but sometimes you many wait in a queue for up to 45 minutes.

Cons:

Wish it was more user friendly. So things are hard to use and when we call customer service most of the time (depending who you get) they are not much help.

Stephenson Eye Associates Loves Nextech

5.0 last year

Comments: Overall Experience has been Fantastic!

Pros:

We love the User Friendliness of this platform and the easy access help from the service technicians if they cant fix your issue they will find someone who can in a timely manner. Nextech is always up to date on the latest and greatest technologies and make sure that its clients have the access to that information as well.

Cons:

Templating for EMNS is not as user friendly to some people who arent tech savy and with every office being so different in their specific needs its sometimes hard to get a template for the office needs that fits perfectly.

Experienced User's Perspective - Over 9 years of use

3.0 last year

Pros:

NexTech select is relatively easy to use and set up, I was able to set up our system on my own after 2 years of experience with the system. Finding the first available appointment is a quick way to navigate appointments, the forward button on the schedule is a nice addition (allows you to jump forward by days/weeks/months/years).

Cons:

The reporting system needs an over haul. It is very basic and requires you to run multiple reports to achieve the analysis you're looking for. We tried the Enterprise reporting and it too did not allow the level of free customization we were hoping for.

Nextech

3.0 8 years ago

Comments: Initial costs were managed with a no interest loan for three years and reduction in introductory costs. However, the details were so complicated and confusing for first time users of EHS that the unreasonable annual maintenance fees were obscured as we made our decision between Nextech and other systems. The sales person also did not emphasize these annual fees - he only emphasized the 3 years without interest and the lower introductory cost. We have 22 stations and had to pay licensing fees of $1200 for each station. We are being charged $15,000 annually for maintenance and upgrades whether we need them or not. In addition, should we not pay the annual $15,000 fee and need tech support or maintenance the next year, we are obligated to pay the $15,000 from the previous year in addition to the $15,000 for the current year. Last year, we needed no support and the upgrades did not affect us. Thus far this year, we have not needed maintenance or upgrades and so we are researching other EHS systems that have fees for support, upgrades and maintenance on an a la cart basis as needed. If we are not able to negotiate a reasonable relationship with NEXTECH regarding these fees, we will either convert to a new system and effectively lose more than $65,000 in software expenses or convert back to paper and take the penalty cuts until we retire. Fees for services are being constantly reduced and expenses are constantly rising, therefore, as a solo independent practice, we simply cannot afford to budget $15,000 for something we may not or do not need.

Pros:

As any other EHS product, it eliminates the paper requirements and increases the legibility and service details documentation.

Cons:

Entirely too expensive in ALL regards - $1200 licensing fees to even use the product on equipment we also had to purchase to run the software in addition to #15,000 annual maintenance fee and fees per doctor, etc.

worst Experience

1.0 3 years ago

Comments: This is not a software for Med spas, weight loss or any other practice who does not bill insurance. The customer care is the worst.
We were given the demonstration by the sales rep and during the demo he said yes to pretty much what we needed in a software like cloud software, automated, emails, online booking etc.
So, we signed the contract and then the nightmare started. No body contacted us for 3 weeks. We asked when we are going to implement, they gave us one call per week which was not enough to set the software, so we did a lot by ourselves like building all the forms. We realize this is not true cloud software as we were told during demo by the sales rep [SENSITIVE CONTENT]. you can only log in only 6 computers at a time, but we were told you can have unlimited iPad. But iPad version is very limited. We came across lot of other problems like
1. Saas cloud software
2. Not able to sign receipt
3.Slow Remote Desktop system
4.patients not able to sign forms in portal
5.iPad version missing important features like not able to update demographics info. Not safe to give iPad to patients forms as they can go in other patients’ charts.
Our company has invested serval hours in setting and learning this software. In the end it was very unfortunate waste of time and effort.
In the end we end up not finishing the implementation or using the software. We asked told them and this is not what we signed for. [SENSITIVE CONTENT] told us contract is a contract we must pay them for 3 years no matter what.

Pros:

During the demo we were told that it is a cloud software , can send automated emails and marketing etc. All most too good to be true.

Cons:

features which were told by sales rep were not present in software.

I love Nextech!!

5.0 last year

Comments: Best system I've ever used in a medical practice!

Pros:

I absolutely love Nextech! It has every feature we need for running a practice. We utilize Nextech Payments as well which gives us tighter financial control. Nextech reports are by far the best I've seen with any EHR/PM system.

Cons:

I have not experienced any cons over the last 4 years except that I can't easily generate a patient list with names and emails for Constant Contact

Pros:

Product is easy to use to put in charges and bill to clearinghouse. Lets me know if I am in global period for billing. Easy to transmit charges and payments.

Cons:

I am unable to bill secondary claims. Also, it would be nice when a claim is rejected that the HCFA would come up so I can correct whats on the HCFA and not look for where to find the mistake.

Nextech Scheduling System

3.0 6 years ago

Comments: I find this system a little more cumbersome to navigate than some and a little easier than others. On the fence with this one. The separation of the different modules by function make this an expensive system. The watered down version is too expensive for the parts that you do get and to me don't make it worth the investment.

Pros:

The scheduling system is fairly easy to use and navigate. Entering patient information in to the scheduler is fairly easy.

Cons:

I would like more customization with the information fields that suit our practice and needs. The flow of the information on the screen isn't as fluid as it should be in order to have speed with entering data.

Implementation continues to disappoint and cause major problems

1.0 last year

Comments: I have hopes for the system once we get through all of our migration problems. Though we are almost two months post-go live and should not be dealing with these problems any more.

Pros:

Reporting options give us what we need to make administrative decisions. AdvancedMD had very poor reporting features.

Cons:

The implementation process has been disappointing. We STILL have not had a complete migration of data from our old EHR since we took Nextech's recommendation to use their migration service instead of going through the legacy EHR.

Nextech Systems Response

Cari, we're glad you're finding value in Nextech's reporting options. However, it is unfortunate that the implementation hasn't met your expectations. We've had tremendous success in the past with the speed and ease of our implementation process, but every practice has its own unique circumstances. difficult to use and more difficult to get tech support -

1.0 10 years ago

Pros:

At this moment not a thing. We had an issue with back up that was set up BY NEXTECH and all our information was lost - not getting any timely followup or resolve after having to spend money to restore information lost. When the problem started we got an error message that said "your back up failed" - after calling tech support they said just hit "back up now" (which we did) only to find out the program was not backing up properly. They have tried blaming the practice saying we set up the back up system, but we didn't, Nextech did.

Cons:

Not intuitive and every little change requires calls to tech support (who are very nice)...HATE the quoting portion of the program. Also something as simple as looking up a patient by a phone number (which is often needed) can't be done while other less expensive products do this and other things needed in an office setting more easily and with less hassle.

Comments: Stay away if you value your time, money, and sanity.

Pros:

it works as scheduling, EMR, and for resource management. It meets basic minimum requirements but that's really it.

Cons:

where to start: 1. Server and expensive licensing to maintain the servers/hardware site 2. software is ridiculously expensive and yearly support doubly so 3. their feature set is weak and many don't work 4. customer support is really terrible 5. that's just the beginning
